Rob is an insufferable know it all with bullying tendencies. People who think that it's part of their dynamic have a weird sense of humour cos it ain't funny IMO!

I agree with this. He’s constantly ready to jump on Josh for doing something wrong. Everything he bangs on about, the lasagna at Christmas, the builder being there, the answering the door while on a podcast. It’s all under the guise of taking the piss for comedy purposes, but you can just tell there’s a proper dig there.
Rob can’t accept it when people do things differently to him. It’d do my head in if he was my friend. It comes out when he talks about people up North etc etc as well.
It reminds me of when I went to university about twenty years ago and all the students realise that people live differently. ‘Oh my God! You put the milk in first when you make tea. Oh my God, that’s sooo weird’ etc etc. It’s so boring!!
I agree. I do think Josh choosing not to shower before bed after he'd been exercising is a choice but...so what?

I think it's one think to make a bit of a pithy comment about it but Rob is literally saying 'That's disgusting. You're disgusting' over and over and I find it uncomfortable to listen to at times.

It would take a lot for me to say 'You're disgusting' to my friends face - and if I did it would be more from a moral stand point (for example if they'd been playground shagging...) rather than anything else.

I know someone who does this, unless you live EXACTLY like she does or her family does then your way is wrong. It comes down to a deep insecurity and a need to please her overbearing mother. The only difference with Rob is its his wife. I think people who do this like to deflect onto others so that noone looks at their bad choices or mistakes

I see RB has been dumped from his Sunday evening radio 2 show by the Beeb. Josh in the meantime was a fantastic stand-in for Romesh on Saturday… karma…

Has he ?? Who has he been replaced with?
From the bbc site “Rob says: “I’ve had such a laugh each Sunday getting to know the listeners, but as my tour schedule hots up and my family forget what I look like, I’ve decided to step away from a weekly show. But you won’t get away from me that easily as I’ll be back presenting shows on Radio 2 later in the year when normal service is resumed!”

Helen Thomas, Head of Radio 2, says: “I’d like to thank Rob for his brilliant work every Sunday evening. He’ll stay within the Radio 2 family and will be heard on the station at a later date.”

Who knows whether it was really his choice or not. His show is being replaced by pick of the pops which is being moved from Saturday lunchtime -Zoe ball will have a new show in that slot.

To be fair I don't think Rob would be able to commit to it with his tour schedule - he's performing some Sundays, but it is often his only day off with the children too so can't imagine it would be worth keeping the slot!

Bit of a strange take on it. He's touring so can't commit, the tours been planned for ages and has undoubtedly been planned around his radio commitments. He's hardly been dumped by the BBC.

I always thought it was an odd show time for him anyway, surely that's a peak family time slot?

I think Rob is much better suited as a presenter / tv personality than Josh.

Josh is the better stand up IMO, he's naturally funny. I find him a bit jarring on The Last Leg (although I can't bear that lads-lads-lads clearly scripted and stilted banter schtick they have on that program) and he always seems a bit out of depth in a presenting role - although I didn't hear him standing in for Romesh on R2.

Don't the BBC have a thing about rotating their presenters and shows every few months anyway? I think they did it to Paul O'Grady at one point.

Seems that Rob has fallen foul of the British mentality of being supported when you're up and coming then being out firmly back down a peg or two when you're successful! Seems like people are waiting for his downfall which is a shame because like him or not his stand up is bloody funny

Rob's show has almost always been pre-recorded not live on Sunday evenings - to be honest I'm not surprised he's stepped away, I don't think it's a very good show - a world away from the enthusiasm he shows on the podcast and despite being pre-recorded he still misses a lot of shows. Also the amount he talks about other radio stations on the pod- TalkSport, Absolute etc - I dont get the impression he listens to Radio 2 unless he's on it and it's definitely a no-no to start going on about how much you love listening to rival stations on your pod.

I don't think it's giving Rob a kicking, it's probably mutually beneficial that it's come to an end.

R’s radio show was dreadful! He’s a million times better on telly or podcast, whereas I think J came across far more natural and comfortable on radio than he’s ever been on telly.

I agree, Rob’s show wasn’t for me. I also found it irritating that due to the pre-record nature, he was often sourcing interaction from his social media and not necessarily from listeners. It made it all seem quite cold and hard to connect with.

Josh standing in for Romesh seemed pretty last minute, unless I missed something. Wonder if they are also testing him out for his own slot as all 3 of them have the same management.

Speaking of which, I can’t believe Rob not only phoned their offices to do a straw poll about watch wearing, but that they then left it in the podcast.

Josh seems a more natural fit on Radio 2 given his love of old music & nostalgia & being a bit more bookish, Robs more blokey style didn’t really work

The stuff about the watch was OTT. As I’ve said before he can be that intense, boring lad mate who labours a joke way too far or thinks something someone else does is weird or stiff and carries on about it.

It’s that male thing of two men you might look at from the outside and think how are they ever friends, just because they were the same place together years ago, but that friendship far outweighs all the material differences.

Just happens those differences feel exaggerated when you listen to them twice a week on a podcast.

Just listening to playground shaggers and burst out laughing at “he didn’t need to print off a photo of African children” 🤣🤣🤣

I haven’t watched the last leg for years & caught it the other week, ong its dreadful! So try hard & unfunny, Josh is much better away from it

I'm going to show my ignorance on this, but I've just seen Lou's post about taking the girls to Sephora and they seem to have baskets of stuff. My daughter's the same age as one of them and it would never cross my mind to go somewhere like that to buy her anything, isn't it all skincare and makeup stuff??
