I do get it that it’s annoying when you feel like there’s an unfair balance with household stuff, but there’s something about talking to a grown man like he’s a child that really gives me the ick.

Others have articulated it better than me - it was her tone that made it so uncomfortable.

And it felt like she hadn’t said anything to Rob about this or how she felt before. Whereas if she had, I think the note would’ve been a bit more lighthearted.

If her way of communicating her frustrations about it to Rob for the first was via a voice note that she asked to be played publicly…yeesh

Team Lou in terms of the content! I don’t think she was disagreeing that it makes sense how they currently doing it. I think her issue was on the last episode Rob made a big deal about how he does the school run every day when actually he’s just doing the final hurdle of the morning race. And yes this is normal life for loads of us. Harder when we have jobs to go to after it. But our husbands aren’t on podcasts listened to by thousands of people bigging up their contribution

It didn’t feel to me like Rob was bigging up the fact that he does the school run, more that it made sense for him to go onto work afterwards. Lou’s lucky she doesn’t have to do both parts, I never remember my dad ever taking us to school as a kid.

If my husband worked until very late and night and earnt enough money to mean I didn't need to work, lived in a big house, went on multiple nice trips and 5-star holidays a year and basically gave our children an amazing life ... I don't think i would moan about the school run. I have always got the children ready in the morning - and i am not living a 5-star lifestyle . Its just called life. Give your head a wobble Lou its all a bit cringe.

I think she was trying to go get a humorous reaction to it like "you go girl" - but it was very icky indeed. And we didnt need 6/7 mins of it either.

She needs to realise that the flip side of her doing the majority of the childcare means that this enables Rob to go out and earn money, which she benefits from in many ways - big house, multiple holidays each year, no pressure from a 9-5 job etc etc. That’s the way it is when there is one stay at home parent and one out earning the money (whether it’s the mum or the dad) - the parent at home naturally does a lot more in terms of household/parenting because they have the time and that’s the role they’ve agreed on for how their family dynamics will work. If she was out doing a full time or part time job then obviously the balance would shift and things would split according to time available.
Reality is many households have both parents rushing out the door to work every morning, plus trying to juggle the school run.

A while back Rob said Lou was now working but didn’t disclose what it was. Did anyone manage to work out what it was? I remember him saying it was something she had to travel in to central London for. Not sure if she is still doing it, whatever it was, as he doesn’t ever say he looked after the kids because she was working, whereas he did a few times before.

I’ve been wondering this too! I’m sure Rob said she was going to be doing something that he couldn’t talk about yet.
The other day that woman from Celebs Go Dating tagged Lou in her Instagram stories. Lou had sent her some flowers to thank her for helping her with something that she’s going to launch soon. I’m so curious what it’s going to be.

I think she was doing a design course to make bags a while ago, but I could be completely wrong

Yes I remember him saying that but he definitely said she was working at one point too.

I actually quite like not having to do the school run. I get up, race around getting packed lunches etc sorted, then once they’ve all left, I can sit with a hot cup of coffee in a peaceful house!!
Same! I don't mind the panic rush because I get 20 minutes alone after!

Anna whatshername from celebs go dating posted a story last week thanking Lou for a gift. She said she had been helping Lou with something that will be out soon.

I haven't listened to the pod since October (apparently, I didn't realise it was so long!).

Listened to the most recent one today and agree with the majority of comments here. Used to really like Lou, and like their relationship banter but I think she forgets how lucky she has it. She lives a very comfortable life, and has a husband who despite his busy schedule still tries to do a fair share of the parenting. From listening to the very podcast he does, we know he does a lot more than others who have the same job and loose routine.

And appealling to the "real lives" of those listeners, I've got friends who's partners won't do the school run because "that's your job" or worse baby daddy's who won't take kids on impromptu days because "it's not my day". So she doesn't make me agree with her, quite the opposite.

I'm not sure the passive aggressive voicenote directed at her main breadwinning husband as though he was a teenager getting in late, and which Rob definitely wasn't aware of, is the one from Mrs Beckett on this ocassion.

Also she's alluded to this herself. She carries a lot of the at home / family mental load and doesn't mind that because that's her personality.
