The comments you have mentioned above say they saw him they don’t say we went up to you and asked for a selfie! It could be said it’s a downside to him being a face that is known BUT I do think they have an amazing life he needs to realise this and stop moaning!
You said he didn't get recognised in Florida, I was just saying people did recognise him 🤷‍♀️

Exactly!! Cry me a river that your children at DISNEYWORLD have to wait 2 minutes while you take a photo!

I dunno, I think it’s a lot to expect young kids to make the connection between their dad being famous and having people approach him and the lifestyle they have

I haven't listened for ages now, I think the guests have been lacking and can't be bothered to listen to the two of them chatting anymore. Not too bothered about the whole Disney thing as it doesn't interest me (DLP was intense enough!)

I wonder if they will ever knock it on the head or if they'll just keep going with it. Sounds like they don't *need* to do the podcast really as they both have a lot of other things going on.

I think this is one of those subjects we’ll have to agree to disagree on 😀

I would make it a point to explain to my children that the reason we're fortunate enough to visit Disney World every year is because of those people who come up and ask for a photo!

I was just about to write exactly this😀
Those kids are getting older now, he could definitely begin to explain this.

I see both sides of this argument, but I do think people deserve their time off ‘work’ and to spend it with their families without interruptions. I wouldn’t like to be having family time and getting a constant stream of phone calls from my job, although I appreciate the circumstances are a lot different! Children aren’t little for long, and it might not be two minutes, it might happen multiple times a day. And if he entertained it, his girls might grow up feeling like they don’t matter to him, when clearly they do.

Totally.

I get why people get fed up of Rob mentioning it often, because he says the same thing every time. (Interesting that Josh never mentions it)

But I do see how it could be, at the very least, a bit weird

Getting hassled when you are out and about, regardless of whether you are with your kids, is the unfortunate reality of being a celebrity. It may be unreasonable but it does come with the territory, along with the high salary and other perks. Either get on with it or don't choose a job which puts you, and by extension your kids, in the public eye. Definitely stop moaning about it, Rob!

I touched on this earlier on the thread and thought about whether to post this or not but hell I’m going for it😂

My ES is a professional sportsman‘s and gets asked for selfies (albeit mostly in Wales) yes he says it can be irritating in the supermarket etc but maintains that a fan is a fan and he will always be grateful for their support.

ETA a lot of the request for selfies are from pushy parents with their kids 😂

I think the thing is that these people are massive fans. And this could be the only time they bump into Rob. It’s their one opportunity to get a photo with him. so the fact he is with his children doesn’t change that. In addition his children benefit greatly from these people who are asking for photos so as long as they aren’t trying to chat for ages I think it’s fair.

I think its fair enough to say no when they're trying to get from a to b in a busy theme park, of course his daughters well being is the priority in that situation. He said he didn't mind if they were sat down on a bench or something.
Personally I think it's cringe asking for photos whoever it is!

What's an ES?
Partner of some sort I assume, but can't work out what ES stands for 🤔

I don't think Rob is wrong to prioritise his daughter's comfort over a fan selfie. As he said he's more than happy to interact with fans when he's not in dad mode. He's allowed a moan and he is allowed some time "off".

I never like the "your fans pay for your lifestyle so suck it up" shtick. It doesn't make sense to me - he's never allowed to be incognito because he's famous and well paid? It's a confusing take on things.

I may be antsy though because my mum was a district nurse for 35 years. She also was a bit of a petrol head. She had many patients make snarky comments along the lines of "so that's where my tax money goes" when seeing her nice car parked outside. I know it's different to the Rob scenario, but it's a similar attitude IMO.

Just finished listening to the Theme Parks Special. Came in here to see if anyone else agreed with me that a Lou and Rob ep on Disneyworld would be the worst thing ever and wasn’t disappointed!
I feel like Lou has brainwashed Rob into thinking that what the audience want is a load of advice on stuff, like ‘your audience is mainly women and I know what women want to listen to’ sort of thing.
Well actually, I don’t want to listen to any unsolicited advice. As soon as you become a parent you’re bombarded with it. I just want to hear funny stories about meltdowns and people microwaving keys etc. not a step by step breakdown on what I should do if I decide to spend tens of thousands of pounds on a holiday from hell. A special episode on children’s sleep is also one of the worst things I could imagine.
I remember Rob once saying that he was going to make an announcement about Lou’s new career idea or something. Did anything ever come of that? Does she work?

I've almost caught up today. Regarding the Florida special episode, they did acknowledge that not everyone wants to hear about it, and that's why they're setting it aside as a separate episode. I think that's fair enough if it's clear that's what it's about. It's no different to skipping an episode because you don't like the guest.

I know several people who've been to Florida, and they all seem to do it differently. A bit of advice may be helpful to some, but I feel like it's one of those things you need to do to suit your own needs. They don't even seem to agree themselves how to do it. He said Lou would do the parks every day, but also said that he thinks you need days off from the parks. It could be interesting to see how they present their "advice" if they have differing views themselves.
