If it's just an elongated version of her ranty blog then I'll give it a miss. (Full disclosure, I don't have kids, so it's not aimed at me - but if I like someone's writing style/voice then I'll read anything - or at least listen to the audio book)

As others have pointed out, she's the default parent largely because her husband makes enough so that they can live a very comfy life without her having to work. I'm not saying that it doesn't make it tiring or draining - but surely it cushions it?

It'd be much more interesting (in my non-parenting opinion) to hear how it is to be the default parent when you're both at work/have as much on.

I'm also not sure I even like the phrase default parent!

It's not like her husband does nothing with the kids.
I feel like her situation is quite specific. I think ive said before on here my husband works away 2/3 nights a week, sometimes longer. I'm a sahm. Of course I take charge of Dr's appointments, school runs, cooking and cleaning and am the main emotional support for my kids, why would I do it any other way? Again I haven't had the luxury of solo holidays, multiple foreign family holidays a year, buying expensive toys as bribes etc! I would not dream of complaining!

I think a lot of mum's would dream of having her life - and the luxury of being the default parent.

Imagine never having to worry how you're going to take time off if they are sick, or during the holidays when they can afford to go on all their days out, she can attend every school concert and assembly without thinking twice. I'm sorry that's a real privilege.

And tbf - Rob does loads. i know he's away touring and recording a lot - but most husbands are busy working. But he does loads when he's around. A lot more than a lot of men do.

Rob also had the whole month of August off, didn’t he, and aren’t they also all going on tour with him to Oz? Oh, the privilege.

Oh everyone needs to relax. It sounds like a light hearted read of HER experience, probably targeted at the podcast listeners who hear their family stories from Rob and will find it amusing from her perspective.

Oh, if it becomes available in the library then I’ll definitely pick it up 😆, it’s just another book written by someone who ordinarily wouldn’t have had the chance if her husband wasn’t who he was! I reckon it’s her way of just getting ar him, rather than having the conversations at home 🤣

I can't stand Lou. There I said it. I can't explain why but she irritates the life out of me.

I also hate the term "default parent" duck off.

I won't be reading the book.
