Pain right abdomen, Mirena?

Hey guys,

I’ve always had pain on my right hand side, radiating down my right thigh when on my period.

Anyway, I got the Mirena a month ago and have had on and off pain since, even when I’m not bleeding.

But this period, and now even though I’m not bleeding much and have taken naproxen, I’ve got really sharp pain half way between my last rib and my hip on the right hand side, made worse by putting pressure on it. I have no other symptoms, no sickness or nausea, no weight loss.

Is it something I should worry about or am I being a hypochondriac?

Yep, that needs looking at. Sharp pains should never be ignored.

Thanks guys, I will see if I can get an appointment. Because apparently my ultra sound before insertion was fine but it’s funny how I’m still getting pain and only from that right hand side!

The mirena does need at least 6 months to settle but anything you’re not happy with, see GP

Higher up could be Liver or Gall bladder?
Mid line could be bowel, constipation?
Lower could be appendix or right ovary.
