Not being alive to push for lbgt rights is certainly a hindrance as is living in a permanent state of trauma. Surviving in a war zone isn't conducive to any progressive advances.
About the Wiki edits, if Jews are saying the changes he made were straight out the antisemites playbook (which they are, it's why it's still frequently brought up on twitter despite it being years ago) who are we to argue it's mostly linguistic. And why was he constantly editing the Hamas entry anyway? He's spent over a decade on a large media platform treating Israel like one homogeneous mass when there's Israeli leftists braver than Owen will ever be who put themselves in harms way opposing Netanyahu's government. He also did a 'yes but...' response to being shown footage of the October attacks. There's no but there. Saw a similar thing with Pro Palestinian feminists downplaying or simply ignoring the rape of Israeli women in that attack. Rape suddenly ok if they think the victim shouldn't be there in the first place? I found the hypocrisy and blind spots on display revolting.
If Jews are by and large are saying Owens commentary on the situation has contributed to a hostile environment for them to the point where he's booted out a gay jewish party, who are we to argue.
