I know that’s why I said yourself or someone you love however I agree she has a lot of potential but if she was going through it I would hope people would try and help her, rather than sit her and speculate. Like I said it would be damaging for her to not have the support needed at such a young age and someone in her position.
Okay I’ll hold my hands up to that one, maybe I shouldn’t assume she’s not an addict. I just think that a lot of people on here make out she is and has an “addicts” problem, so I felt like saying my POV on it.
I wasn’t trying to normalise it, it’s very relevant to my current circumstances as my boyfriend uses c and other stuff and is going through the process of getting help for it, I do not use them at all and never have, so I understand what it is like from a non users POV and having someone I love use them too. I absolutely hate them and wouldn’t try to make them normal after the affects it’s had on us however i think people shouldn’t be so quick to judge and call her a head & names regarding it when they may not realise how hard it actually is.
Addiction and substance abuse are big problems, and I'm sorry to hear that your boyfriend is struggling.
However, I think there is a difference between being an addict and doing drugs because it's fun / it's socially acceptable to do them.
I'm willing to say I definitely experience more prejudice towards Olivia and the likes of her as she is from a wealthy family and has every opportunity to do anything she likes with her life. I'll admit that maybe makes me come down harder on her, as it's not like she's from a cycle of poverty or drug abuse (and she voluntarily hangs around drug users, rather than being surrounded by them through situation). Maybe it's unfair to have expectations or hopes for people who have certain privileges, but given that she's not an addict (as far as we can speculate) and she has the capacity to totally avoid drugs, I would have hoped that she would choose to.
However, I can accept that that may be a moral failing on my part and I shouldn't judge her more for being a drug user by active choice - providing of course, she is actually one. I don't denigrate addicts and people trying to get help, I just think the more people pile onto the idea that taking drugs make you cool / young and free / fashionable, the bigger the drug epidemic will continue to get. It's more about the "influencer" and "teenager" aspects than the "addict" aspect in this situation for me personally. And that's not even mentioning mental / psychological effects that drugs can have, particularly on a teenager's mind.
Anyway, sorry tangent over. I don't want anyone thinking I have prejudice against addicts, but I also think it's important for people to openly oppose drug use if that's what they believe (as from personal experience I saw none of that). x
