Two main ones for me were:
HotelChat - decent enough early chatroom where every 'hotel room' was for a different discussion.
Liv4Now - a 'lifestyle' website that had some forums; was good for a couple of years before the owner decided to become a massive bellend and start to push the core userbase out.
L’Hotel Chat has a seldomly used FB group where I managed to catch up with some of my old Babble crew.

I was obsessed with this barbie virtual world - I still have the mp3 players that gave you vip access to different rooms and better clothes 😂 😂 I remember someone wrote about my avatar being stylish on their forum and I was buzzing😂😂

Did anyone else ever get sent that game where you had to navigate a maze and the dot got smaller and smaller so you were right up close to the screen and then the exorcist girl popped up screaming? 😂

A lad I proper fancied in high school sent me a link on MSN so I did it, jumped so much I went backwards in the dining room chair and smacked the back of my head off the door frame 😂 Amazingly I was fine but my mum was convinced I'd have concussion and wouldn't let me sleep for ages. She wasn't impressed with the lad 🙄
Omg 🤣🤣

Our Science teacher put it on one time on the big monitor and pranked one of the boys in class. Needless to say, he absolutely shit himself!

Rotten.com. The gory pics would take ages to slowly load 🤢😱
Yes! And back then it felt like the pictures were genuine as photoshop wasnt as sophisticated. The helicopter decapitations 😢

I also remember a website called pickleparty where you could send e-cards to people, but they were really offensive 😁

I was a huge Girls Aloud fan back in the day and was always on the Girls Aloud Forum! Then it just disappeared?!

I used to always be on Habbo Hotel 😂

Anyone remember crystal rainforest in primary school!??
Oh my god! You would not believe how many hours I spent trying to figure out the name of that only a month or so ago! THANK YOU! 🤣 I have such vivid memories of playing it in the ‘IT suite’ aka school kitchen complete with some computers that was also haunted 😂

ETA: Stardoll and Neopets were the best. I still play Neopets. Never lost my skill at Ice Cream Machine or Hasee Bounce 😉

Newgrounds.com, where you could play games and watch animations. Some YouTubers became well known on there, such as Egoraptor from Game Grumps. I remember playing an adult point-and-click game parodying Saved By the Bell called "Saved By Your Balls" (just checked and its still up there lol).

I remember me and my mates used to go on some weird fucking chatrooms...I think some were American ones I can't remember now 🤮🤮😂😂
Actual weirdo's on there, we used to wind the fuck out of them. I bet half of them were serial killers or massive pweirdo's.

All this on a grainy beige Compaq computer with the first type of dial up internet

Did anyone ever use EmoFwendz? (I think that was how it was spelled). I used it from like 2009-2012. I loved that site so much and met so many people. Some were weird and some I still talk to to this day!

Girland...spent hours on there!
LiveJournal...I found my old LiveJournal recently; good grief, the cringe was real 😂
I remember you could change the little icon next to your emotions, and mine was a little dancing star that changed colour!
I used to love the thriftstoreuk community on there, id check it out every day! Even made friends who I am still in contact with now through that LJ community!

This was a competitor to youtube but never really got as big, I used to use it as YT was blocked in school

Diabolik.TV
Used this quite a lot back in the day to discuss DS Forums

Paperdoll Heaven, Howrse, Itsmy, Neopets, AlbinoBlacksheep, WeeblsStuff, Tagged.com etc

TVCream, was one of the first sites I visited when I had access to dial-up internet back in the late 90s. It focused mainly on British TV shows from my childhood (70s and 80s).

It's still up and running today, and I revisit from time to time just for the nostalgia
