Not really a website but MSN messenger was always the first thing to load when switching the laptop on, was amazing how good it was and much better than anything today. You could see all your friends, just click a button much better interface than Whatsapp.

And all the mind games involved...putting vague quotes or song lyrics in your name that related to a person or relationship, setting yourself as ‘appear offline’ and coming online when your crush was on too... glory days!!

I remember Lycos Chat back in the late 00s and early 10s. I was never off those chatrooms. A few weirdos on there, but it was still a great place to chat with friends.

It still exists but it had a major makeover about 10 years ago and it went right down the pan with too many mods on power trips. A bit like DS today.

Bebo was all the rage when I was in Year 7 - remember ‘giving your luv’ to someone every week? 🤣

Omg and adding this to your top 16 friends 😭 f offfff peng a leng 😣😂

Anyone??

Also please tell me I'm not the only one who played hotdog Bush. George Bush working on a hotdog stand. It was actually a great game, I can remember the panic of the hotdogs burning and customers getting angry!
I remember badger badger badger, and I loved hot dog bush! I even downloaded it on my phone! Hahah

Neopets! Is that still around? I used to love collecting rare paint brushes and negs.

I loved MSN!! I wish this was still around now! It was nice only being able to be contacted when you had your computer on, unlike now with WhatsApp its constantly available.

Heatworld forums. It was a good laugh, but a couple of users leashed a torrent of abuse on 100 different profiles and got it shutdown!

Joe Cartoon! It was a site with wee flash animation videos, mostly revolving around a fly that was drunk (?!) and would be like, ‘ohhhh my freakin’ head, I’m so wastedddd’. Hysterical when you’re 14 🙈😂

I remember finding out that Limewire had a chat section, and there were hundreds of rooms with names like “seeking young teen girls” or “swap young girl pics”. It was obviously unmoderated and I got a bit of a shock, was a glimpse into the dark side of the internet.

I keep remembering more stuff. When I was in secondary school the internet was still quite “new” in terms of using it for fun. It was completely unmoderated and unrestricted in school - I remember going on so many dodgy websites at lunchtime with my friends, I can only remember one where it was barbies acting out sex scenes, and another with “granny porn”. Then of course there were all the viral pictures that would do the rounds into everyone’s school emails (usually involving something gross or nudity) and don’t forget those emails that made you send them to 10 other people or some sort of ghost would appear at your bed tonight 😂. Also we used to use chat rooms all the time genuinely innocently and I remember being asked for pictures of me in my school uniform and sending them  I had no awareness of paedophiles or anything and was so naive!

I was on several chat boards for book series’ I was interested in, talking to all sorts of people. I was probably around 11 when I started doing it (too young!) Pretty much all innocent stuff, writing fan fiction and uploading badly drawn fanart but I was definitely chatting to some real weirdos.

I’d totally forgotten about those dress up doll games! I loved those. Especially the glittery, pixelated games.

I also watched a lot of anime on Crunchyroll.

Can’t remember what it was called, but we used to play a game in primary school and you had to connect all the pipes and fill up glasses of water (I think it was green) 🤔

Does anyone else remember those sites for the Nokia phones where you could send a logo for you screen. Or the sites where you would spend ages typing in a sequence for a ring tone 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

used to be OBSESSEd with Stardoll and neopets
Spent hours on miniclip too (milk shake was the best game on there)

No one I've ever mentioned egg2 to seems to know what it is! But I used to go on there a lot too
