I have to say it’s really poor form they’ve not kept in touch with you whilst you’ve been on maternity leave. Even just to check in and let you know how things have changed there.

If your not going to loose anything and have the means to live without returning to work then go for it. I was a stay at home mum until my youngest started school and I loved it, meant we never had that juggle of childcare especially when a child was poorly. Good luck with whatever you choose.
I didn't go back until my son was 3. I feel that time together created a really strong bond .
As long as you can manage financially I don't think you'll ever regret it.

Update - after being on furlough for a few months, I have been made redundant. I am quite relieved .

They cant. The only time a company is allowed make contact is to arrange a return to work chat.

I didn’t know that.
It’s a shame the company didn’t utilise paid keep in touch days for this kinda thing although I understand they’re optional. I’m on mat leave at the mo and my boss has kept in touch with the goings on at work but think she’s just being kind.

Since they've had staff on furlough they started sending monthly email newsletters to everybody, I used to get them

I was wondering about this cause I haven’t heard anything from my work from I left in February but I’m not due back till December but I don’t plan to go back until the end of January and only returning part time which I don’t think they’ll be too happy with but I’ve only childcare 2 days 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ we have to give 8 weeks before the day we return so will have to contact them

Glad to read this - only seen this thread the second time round but having been through this under very different circumstances you can’t describe the relief of it. It’s like an invisible weight has been lifted off your shoulders x

Thanks my love! Weirdly it has worked out blindingly well for my career but I know I need to go back into therapy because I now have 0 self esteem! I would say I hope you’re doing well but I know you will, only good can come from a situation like this! x
