A quick google of FOI's submitted to various Police forces requesting ethnicity stats of arrests under the Vagrancy Act (across the UK) suggests that your city might be an anomaly.
What on earth are you talking about? Are you really suggesting all those without homes are street homeless? You really have no idea of the situation. Many of these people are trapped in "jobs" they don't get paid for, they sleep on a mattress in a house where every single inch of space has a mattress on it that is occupied 24/7.A quick google of FOI's submitted to various Police forces requesting ethnicity stats of arrests under the Vagrancy Act (across the UK) suggests that your city might be an anomaly.
Honestly, I just can't anymore. it's clear you have no actual idea about any of this. So we will leave it there. The street homeless I refer to are pretty much that, they're homeless and live on the street (interspersed with hostel accom, which isn't for everyone, as can also be incredibly dangerous). They tend to be the groups who beg on street, where I live, anyway. I'm sure there are other groups who beg who do have accommodation, but I'm unclear how that's linked to small boats and immigration. How do you know the immigration status of these gangs you see?
Mark Corrigan is Scottish and Pete is London metropolitan liberal probs middle class. I love them both like I do all tattlers but they doooo not get what it’s like being poor and living in a deprived area where immigration has segmented communitiesHonestly, I just can't anymore. it's clear you have no actual idea about any of this. I don't live in Scotland now and I'm originally from (what was at the time) and also now live in a diverse working class area of a large city. A large % of my classmates weren't White British eitherMark Corrigan is Scottish and Pete is London metropolitan liberal probs middle class. You should be more concerned that your demigod Nigel has no idea of this, with his privileged background and considerable bank account.Mark Corrigan is Scottish and Pete is London metropolitan liberal probs middle class. I suspect he sodding does see the issues living in London and is self aware enough to know he hasn’t experienced/isn’t experiencing the worst of itYou should be more concerned that your demigod Nigel has no idea of this, with his privileged background and considerable bank account.
Irish and Italians? Hardly a sink/deprived school then, they’re wealthy immigrants to the UK in general. Greece is a poorer country but Greeks don’t tend to cause social problems.I also live in a diverse working class area (in London). About half of my primary school classmates weren't white, with the rest of us being from Irish, Italian and Greek backgrounds.
It's almost like immigration in the UK is nothing new, innit?
Sounds like a dump I’d go back to ScotlandI don't live in Scotland now and I'm originally from (what was at the time) and also now live in a diverse working class area of a large city. A large % of my classmates weren't White British either![]()
Okay but Irish don’t cause issues (language and culture the same/similar) and they’re also not coming in millions. I don’t think anyone’s ever included them in anti immigration rhetoric since the 1990sMy point is that he's privileged and very much a product of the establishment.
And the Irish being wealthy immigrants to the UK when I was at primary school - please, my sides are splitting. My parents came over without the proverbial pot to piss in, like many of their country men and women, with Ireland being far from the relatively prosperous country that it is now. Found it hard initially to get lodgings because of the "No Blacks, No Irish, No Dogs" bull in windows. I grew up in a rundown part of London that didn't have a good reputation.
And you talk about blind spots re immigration...![]()
The school I went to was in Scotland. I moved to England as an adult.I suspect he sodding does see the issues living in London and is self aware enough to know he hasn’t experienced/isn’t experiencing the worst of it![]()

Not a personal dig at you Pete, I understand the sting when someone attacks personal information about you and I’m not doing that, just making the point already made above that we all have blind spots regarding immigration

Sounds like a dump I’d go back to Scotlandlovely scenery and open space there
( I’m joking)
I was talking to Pete sausageThe school I went to was in Scotland. I moved to England as an adult.
You've not heard of the rhetoric around Irish Travellers that has been fairly common over the last at least ten years?Okay but Irish don’t cause issues (language and culture the same/similar) and they’re also not coming in millions. No? I mean don’t think Nige has said anything so maybe a bit off topic, but I haven’t heard anything. Understand I may have blind spots there thoughYou've not heard of the rhetoric around Irish Travellers that has been fairly common over the last at least ten years?
Wait if that’s true that’s pretty grimI meant to add, my husband (from the city I live in now) is in his late thirties and was one of a grand total of two white kids in his class. Like Pete says, nowt new.
