Okay so got round to watching the video in question and there might be a bit of fake news here.
When I read “You will get n#g fool for Christmas” I automatically thought of an abbreviation for an offensive word for a black person. But what he actually says is “You will get nog fool” which apparently means small as per the screenshot?

Girl, anyone over the age of 40, esp those who are already known for their 'views' and are trying to prove otherwise, would not be using that n word, for any reason, as it is a very, very well known (to most in that age group) racial slur, both the shortened and longer version. If he was categorically not racist, he wouldn't be using phrases like that for fear of being branded, well, racist. He knew.

It literally says above in the Metro article he doesn't really understand what he's saying though and he's asked to say all sorts of random things about Bugs Bunny etc he has no understanding of. Same with the IRA thing.

Obscure? It's half of a term for black people which was fondly used by racists in the 60s and 70s in the UK. Maybe you don't know that - but Nigel certainly will.

I don't think that video message was his finest hour by any means.
But there is a difference between a racist word being used in circumstances that are nebulous ( he may have been asked to say it for money which is his downfall, but still shouldn't have said it) and fully fledged racism that seeps into his policy and beliefs. This idea of him being racist seems to be linked a lot to his ideas around immigration, and racism and immigration policies are two different things.

The thing is... he's not saying what's wrong with all these people is their skin colour. So it's not really racist.
These people don't look 'foreign' because of their skin colour. They're not dressed in Western clothes. If he'd just posted a pic of non-white people in t-shirts and jeans going about their business in Britain it would be a different kettle of fish and extremely racist. I think they're meant to be Syrian which was the issue at the time.
It's arguably a bit xenophobic, but it's meant to shock and ignite fear around the issue. Xenophobia though is muttering to yourself that the one Polish family next door are strange and should go back home, or that you don't want to eat their food as it might be dirty. It's not being concerned about thousands of people entering the country.
It's not my FAVOURITE poster. It's gauche and inflammatory. I don't think you should be using images of people to score political points. But it's not focusing on individual people or suggesting there's anything wrong with the people in the photo one by one. It's focusing on the concept.
The Guardian's comment that this poster is full of 'nonwhite' people as the standout thing they saw is actually more racist. I just saw a load of Syrians

The BLM movement is controversial. It's not just about being anti racist, it's got political undertones. Describing those who defend it as 'anti racist' is topical. I don't really want to go into the history of slavery here as it's a bit off topic, but that poster held below is quite negative and aggressive. It doesn't look like a peaceful anti racist protest, it looks pretty inflammatory. He's not criticising anti racism, he's criticising BLM.

I would argue that if you appeal to racists, consort with racists and firm political parties that are full of racists, you have probably got some racist tendencies going on.
He occasionally lets his mask slip and his true feelings spill out, but most of the time he couches his racist tendencies by saying he is concerned about society being divided. No problem with the country being divided by Brexit eh Nigey? But people of different religions or colours…hmmm….not so much. He is worried about black people marching because the racists might attack them?
He is on record as saying that Enoch Powell, in his infamous racist speech was right.
He is on record as saying that he would feel “uncomfortable” if a family of Romanians moved in next door to him.
If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and walks like a duck…
Support the bloke if you must, but let’s not pretend that he isn’t a nasty, dangerous, divisive racist.
Just as Johnson hides his true narcissistic self behind the bumbling, badly coiffured, chaotic, benign intellectual persona, Farage hides his true self behind the banter loving, beer swilling, tweed wearing, cricket loving, cheeky chap down the pub persona.
He connects to the knuckle dragging mob because he appeals to their base instincts. That is because he has the same base instincts. It is exactly the same with his hero Trump, and Trumps supporters.

I agree with a lot of this actually. But it doesn’t mean EVERYONE who likes him is bad or racist. He does speak about a lot of pertinent issues. Most of his supporters even roll their eyes at some of the most outrageous stuff.

To be honest the reason why he appeals to a lot of people is because he actually proposes solutions for issues real people care about. Immigration is AN issue, but it’s not the only issue by far. Get a left winger to do a hard hitting poster about the appalling way some of the disabled and poor are treated in this country and that would also resonate with a lot of people. But all the left seem to do is go “oh, racist” whenever immigration is mentioned and “it’s the Tories” if the subject is money for services or poverty. So discussions are never had

Nigel also upholds British culture and values, and patriotism is so important. A lot of people feel left behind as we seem to be being everything to everybody at the moment for fear of offending. That’s nothing to do with skin colour.
