Micky Bartlett was awful at the comedy roast for Willie Thompson's birthday during the week. He obviously hadn't done any prep work for it and was too blocked to come up with anything off the cuff. I think he realised as he left the stage early saying that he needed a piss or something. Top marks from me for Jazmyne Sierra and Luke McGibbon though - both able to pull one liners and improvise put downs on the spot.

Aaron McCann seems like a genuine all around good egg. Nothing else to add 😂 hopefully no one has any stories that would point otherwise

He was unwell last year and was taking a career break to rest and recover.

His Patreon shut down last month.

I hope he is OK, mentally and physically. He's probably my favourite of all of them. There's something about him that you just want to see him do well.

This post is all spot on. Am I the only one who thinks Mummy Banter is annoying as feck though?
William Thompson is literally sound as a pound. Been in his company due to friends of friends and he was a really decent lad. Ciaran is a good watch, we've tickets for the SSE in November for an early Christmas work night. Empire's a preferable since we "grew up". Started out in Mandela Hall watching Barry the blender.
I absolutely love the NI comedy scene, seen a lot of them live stand up and live podcasts and things. But mammy banter absolutely melts me, I do not find her funny. She has her own thread on here

Skiddy monks and flaking like a snake …. How sexy NOT
Basically a sausage roll 🤣

Well that was some tea! How do we know it’s definitely him? I really like most of the comedians here but there’s just something smarmy about him, you can tell he really thinks a lot of himself.
It's 110% him. Even if you message her she'll tell you. There was no one else gigging that night that it could have been when she went to see him and he eyeballed her, I went straight to see the line up and that's how i found out.
---
That’s some tale - wonder if that is the ex GF he shared custody of the dog with.

Hes also wild he objectifies woman all the time including the way he speaks so crass about the current girlfriend
Something he should have grew up a bit by now.

I used to find him very funny and would also have listened to podcasts he was on etc
Just so over him now it’s all the same potty mouth talk. Previously you kind of laughed it off as it was just sprinklings of smut & toilet human and the like - now it’s regularly served as a full main dish.
I love that Colin, Shane and Ciaran are really respectful about their other halves. You know there is a line the won't cross. As for that slug Mickey everyone is fair game.

Saw Mickey Bartlett at a free comedy show (filmed for BBC) during Derry’s city of culture stuff in 2013 and thought he came across really well, genuinely funny. Fast forward 10 years and he absolutely turns me now. He’s not witty and his humour isn’t intelligent, unlike Colin and Ciaran. He actually reminds me of Beavis and Butthead, just sitting there sniggering to himself about toilet humour and smut. He’s so gross.

Yeah I think I heard that one too. Paddy raff isn’t really a stand up the way the others are.. diff kind of comedy.
I think they all work very hard and hats off to them!
I know what you mean about Diona. She had Jordan Humphries on and there were a few cringe moments where I felt she was a bit rude to her. Still love her overall tho!
There’s two main reasons that Raff isn’t ‘in’ with the rest of the NI comedy scene; 1.) (the main reason) he was outed as being an admin on the “LAD” Facebook page. Which was critical of NI Comedians on numerous occasions and 2.) he outright steals bits and copies entire characters. You only have to have compare Mike McGoldrick (Shane Todd) to ‘Nigel’ (Raff)

I don’t get Shane Todd. I just don’t think he’s funny at all. I WANT to like Diona but she’s just cringe 😬

Ciaran Bartlett and Colin Geddis are my two favourites on the NI comedy scene. Both intelligent, genuinely funny guys

TBH I think all the local crew of comedy look out for each other and have honed their craft by travelling the comedy circuit all over the country.
Love the older ones also like Jake OKane Tim McGarry Colin Murphy - seen them all numerous times.

In my opinion the ones they have the issue with is the ones that become social media popular or viral and get a fasttrack eg mummy banter

I have seen Paddy McD live he was funny but I think now he’s getting a bit big for his boots and sometimes it’s painful to listen to 😂 Also lots of same material.
Shane Todd was his support and wasn’t impressed. But I like his podcast, and how he interacts with guests.

See Andrew Ryan he was funny, William Thompson good too.
Follow all their podcasts like the banter.
Would like to see Ciaran Bartlett live
Mickey Bartlett turns me 😂
Want to see Aaron but OH thinks he laughs at himself to much and it’s an ick.

Been to the empire comedy club a few times and it’s good for a different kind of night out. Quality varies.

They are right when they say the NI comedy scene has to be one of the best- a lot of talent in such a small place.
I love Ciaran Bartlett, defo next on my list to see live. Really like Mark McCarney too.

Saw Shane’s show in the GOH a few months back and it was decent, but I prefer his podcasts.
Paddy was the support and I must say I didn’t love his stand up. Again I think he’s at his best on the podcasts. Very samey material for sure but some of his stories about Belfast are an abso riot 😂
I’m ashamed to say a few years back I had a crush on Micky but he turns me now too. Overgrown sleazy man child who thinks he’s gods gift. Pure dirtbird. Has he ever had a girlfriend last more than a year?! He is undeniably funny though. With the exception of those weird airplane posts ‘Two gins Sandra!’ And all that shit, I just don’t get it 🤷🏼‍♀️

Fair play to him. I do like Colin but get the impression he thinks he’s top dog, would be good hit for his ego if Aaron made it big in the US

I’m delighted Diona is pregnant again, she’s spoke about having to go through IVF for their daughter. Also Shane Todd…strangely attractive! Or maybe it’s just because he’s funny 🤷🏻‍♀️

The bomb squad is good but it's definitely more pointed at men.
I could never even try with mudblood it just seemed feral and chaotic at the start.

Shane and his team have done a great job with tea with me

I want to like Diona and this isn’t internalised misogyny, I want female representation in the NI comedy scene, but she’s quite hard to listen to. I agree she tries too hard and her humour is mediocre.

Have they all cut Paddy McDonnell loose? He doesn't appear on any of their podcasts anymore and even William hasn't been on mudblood.
Been wondering this myself. There was a Reddit post on him a few weeks back after someone said they saw him littering up the north coast lol and people were saying the same thing re podcasts.
People reckon it’s a case of him becoming a bit too big for his boots.

I know he’s a storyteller style comedian and they often take some ~artistic~ license but everything that comes outta his mouth is full bollocks and it’s boring now tbh. He’s very inauthentic I think.
