My weight is becoming an obsession... Help, please.

I'll try to keep this simple but I need help.
I have always been overweight. The only time I have been successful in losing a noticeable amount is when I have done complete meal replacement diets but of course I put it back on (and more).
I had an awful attitude towards food, would binge eat and eat in secret.

I finished hypnotherapy two weeks ago and finally felt in control of my eating. I started eating three proper meals a day. No snacking or bingeing and didn't want junk food at all. In fact I still don't. I was actually beginning to feel quite good. I had hidden the scales but this morning I felt so confident I wanted to weigh to see how much I have lost. But, nothing. Not a single pound. I weigh exactly the same as I did two weeks ago.
It sounds pathetic but I am gutted. I feel sick and want to cry. I don't know how to lose weight with food. I need to loose approx 5 stone which I have done with shakes but I don't know how to do it with food.
Please can anyone point me in any kind of direction?
Thank you

I’m sorry I don’t have any advice but wanted to comment to say you’re not alone as I’m in a similar situation myself. My weight has been up and down for about five years now, before that I was a healthy weight which is ironic as I probably ate worse back then! I only lost weight over the last few years by doing doing diets that I can’t stick to and I’d just end up binging eventually.. gaining more weight so then binging more - now I don’t seem to have the willpower to do anything because the last year when I’ve tried to lose weight I’ve really struggling and lost sod all! I did try fasting in 2019 and it really did work so I told myself I’d try that again as from January but lockdown happened I’m even struggling with that now.

Hey 👋

I can totally understand how disheartening it must be to have got on the scales and not seen what you were hoping for, your weight changes daily though depending on so many factors so please don’t give up if you want to lose weight for yourself.

As another user said, you should come join us on the weight loss thread. One thing I would also just mention is eating 3 healthy meals a day is excerpt and such a great starting point, but unless you are in a calorie deficit you won’t lose weight. Unfortunately things can be healthy but still have a fair amount of calories in. It may be worth just tracking your meals so you get an idea of how many calories you are eating every day and seeing if there are other areas where you may be having too many (eg. Lots of Mayo, lots of cheese on your pasta, full large milk in your coffees). Once you know what you’re eating it might make it easier.

I have thought I was eating healthily before (and I was) but I was eating the amount of calories I need to stay the same so didn’t see weight loss, so bad to either cut back what I was eating or exercise more to be in a deficit.

Don’t feel gutted. Have w google of the whoosh effect. If you’re eating well it will come off. But sometimes it takes time for your body to adjust. You’ve made a great start. Maybe just have a look at portion control if you’ve not had a look at it. Sometimes a lot of the things you think are healthy, you can end up having too much. Basically what I’m trying to say is 2000 calories worth of apples, is still 2000 calories. Don’t give up just yet. You’re on the right track, it just might need a tweak here and there. You’ll be glad you kept at it on a few weeks x
