It’s an important factor if they notice a trend to the spread (in which they have as it’s men who have sex with men) then it should be mentioned. It would be irresponsible not to mention that! Covid didn’t appear to transmit through specific kinds of sexual intercourse.
Exactly

I do wonder if the history with AIDS/HIV (plus I guess the attitudes some people hold?) has made them pause a bit and wait for more data 🤷‍♀️

The smallpox vaccine is around 85% effective against monkeypox but it carries huge risks so it isn’t widely available. The risk of the smallpox vaccine don’t outweigh the benefit for most people. There is a newer, allegedly “safer” smallpox vaccine but it’s scarcely available.
It’s only recommended for adults and not the vulnerable people/ age’s that Monkeypox could be deadly for.

We’re not permitted to send kids to school with chickenpox. I think with this disease it’s even more severe on the unborn child I don’t think letting kids take it home is a good idea
With chicken pox you keep the sick child at home you don’t isolate the entire class! Or traditionally we had chicken pox parties!

So for clarity do you support and suggest an entire class isolate (because your comments seemed to be advocating that in order to protect others outside the classroom they should all isolate), or is your issue that the sick one isn’t isolating? I’m lost.

Most responsible parents would keep a sick child at home whether it was a public health requirement or not.
If they’re a close contact ( within 1mtr) yes they should isolate, this disease is containable compared to other more transmissible infections.

Well they say they don’t know much about the new strain if it’s as virulent as made out it won’t be as easily controlled as the previous one? Why not start vaccinating in the affected countries?
Maybe vaccinate and lock down where it is an issue?

It's spread by very close contact. So sex is one way, and it was a bit more prevalent in the gay community compared to others for that reason. But it's not a 'gay' disease 🙄 Of course kids can spread it too as they have a lot of physical contact, like they are prone to so many illnesses.

This is the second outbreak since covid, it was doing the rounds in 2022.
As I said, I rarely hear, read or see any news and the one time I did hear about this was when a radio presenter or a studio guest or whomever clearly said it was spreading through gay sex. I never said it was a gay disease. I also never said it was the only way it was spread.
