I think the 1990s and 2000s supermodels were just really, really beautiful.
And they were all very individual looking, so easy to tell apart - Linda was so different to Yasmeen was so different to Niki was so different to Karen was so different to Christy was so different to Naomi and so on.
Now they all just look like skinny blond clones.
The models who are women of colour look way, way better than the clones.

The era itself added to it as well (mostly talking about the late 80s, early 90s). Pre-internet and smart phones, you might see them on tv occasionally, but it was like entering another world looking through the fashion magazines and seeing them in ads and photo shoots. There was always a perfume sample or two that made it extra heady. Total fantasy and mystique that is really missing now. When you see any of the supermodels today, in motion, working, you can see the it factor in play. Despite losing her mystique, Kate Moss still has it.

I see Lila has got the Celine SS25 campaign. She always gets the best gigs… reiterating what others have said already but as lovely as she is, there’s not a chance she’d get these opportunities if it weren’t for being Kate’s daughter.

Never found Kate Moss stunningly beautiful. Always thought i missed something

It's not about being beautiful though, it's having 'it'. Her early 90s work was full of charm. In very simple pictures she was capable of conveying two or three conflicting emotions or vibes at once. She was enigmatic and could deliver a complexity her conventionally beautiful peers couldn't. For me, her face naturally carried that quality too, features just slightly too spaced or flat or angled funny. She could shapeshift; cute, sultry, androgynous, ethereal. The other girls were more one note. I don't know, I totally got her. She makes me feel something. That's the main thing. I admire the beauty of other models then forget about them.

Ok I’m gonna cast some aspertions here. Naomi is in her early 50s and has always had her own way and done as she has pleased, leading a very privileged and unique, yet relatively shallow lifestyle. We do not know what she is like but we do know how she has behaved towards others in the past. (BA ban for assaulting her PA and I’m sure many other similar incidents) she does not have a good reputation for keeping her calm.

After the novelty of a cute baby wears off and the troublesome twos kick in how is she going to react and cope with that child? She must have Nannys to deal with the day to day stuff. I’m not sure she’s emotionally equipped to raise kids alone and also her age, no matter how fit and fabulous she clearly is, will still factor in how much energy she has to raise children to adulthood. She will be 70 with two approaching adulthood teenagers. Good luck with that.

Really petty, but I couldn't stand Agyness Deyn because of her stupid, made-up name. Never got why she was so hyped up an I still believe the stupid spelling was a major part of it. Every few years it's another model that pops up and they always either sport a stupid name or stupid spelling of a pretty normal name. It's like some rite of passage.

Hmm, the first one sounds quite conspiracy theory-esque. Reminds me when a celebrity has died since 2020, the vaccine is always mentioned. The second one makes sense because I have heard rumours she was pally with the Russian government and has been photographed with Putin.

It’s not really a conspiracy theory is it. There are millions that have been injured and died from the vaccine around the world. Just because a topic is something that a person doesn’t agree with doesn’t mean that it is a ‘conspiracy’ or that it doesn’t happen. But this isn’t the place to discuss this subject at all. For the record, Supermodel Doutzen Kroes gave up her modelling career because she didn’t want to take the vaccine. And she was the one who was vocal about it. There are dozens more in that industry that kept quiet and used fake cards. The Kardashs (allegedly) are said to be one such types.

Perfectly normal and lovely looking! But not a supermodel. Like 99.999% of us. Essentially cheated herself into a career by having so much work done. It doesn’t count! I wonder if she does feel inferior next to all those beautiful girls/women who were born beautiful. I’m sure I would - everyone knows you’re a fraud.

I liked Karen Mulder

I loved Karen Mulder! Such a strong, classic beauty. I remember when she broke down in a talk show and spoke about being raped by prince Albert. I'm sure her allegations would have been received very differently today. Back then, everything was just swept under the rug.
