There was a young woman murdered here earlier this year. She was out jogging in the day time in a populated area. She did everything they tell us to do and was still attacked. Despite this I still read posts online that asked why was she running alone, was she wearing earphones, was she wearing tight running clothing, did she not vary her routine? She did everything "right" and still died and despite this people are still looking for something in her behaviour that "got her killed" rather than looking at the attitude and behaviour of men.
Personally I am sick of it. I used to run a lot years ago and would be lectured by men for running alone or in quiet areas, the same people who are first to shout NOT ALL MEN when a woman talks about the fear of day to day life. We make so many micro decisions around safety that we don't even notice them anymore and its become so normalised for us and yet no matter what we do women still get murdered and raped and beaten. Nothing will change unless men and the culture of entitlement they have changes.
