Honestly same. Talking about her first week with a newborn as ‘magical’ yes there are magical moments but it’s so unrealistic and not good for other new mothers to see. Face full of makeup, hair done etc going on a solo trip out 1 week postpartum gloating about it on social media im so disappointed

Totally agree - i feel like she is coming across as quite manic in her stories from today- claiming she can’t wait to exercise and knows she should rest but feels so good she wants to be out. Then saying she is going home to rest and watch a film but 4 more stories appear including an OOTD selfie. I hope Sam is keeping an eye on her and is clued up about post partum mental health because this is looking a bit iffy…

I think it’s great she’s well, she looks very excited to be this side of birth. Her home birth looked like a very positive experience. Not for me at all but to each their own.

There isn't but there should be! I hollowed her a few weeks ago when she was banging on about an expensive necklace always breaking, and could she claim compensation on it after 5 years. She's had 3 small children who have no doubt grabbed at the necklace over the years and weakened the links. Stupid woman

Perfect birth partner/husband
Perfect doula
Perfect homebirth
Perfect first week of baby's life

The wheels are going to come off at some point and she is going to freak! Aren't they attempting a holiday in a few weeks time, while the baby is still tiny?

Having just seen her stories she does seem to be quite hyped up about it all, hopefully she doesn't tip over into manic.

I agree that manic is the word I would also use to describe the stories she posted this afternoon. I think it’s lovely to see how pleasantly surprised she is by how much she’s enjoying the baby so far. But, 7 days in you’re still running on pure adrenaline and the excitement of the new baby is clouding everything. I was the same a week in, I thought I had an angel baby who slept amazingly and breastfed wonderfully and I kept thinking “wow this is so easy and I feel incredible!”. The fourth week hit me like a tonne of bricks when my husband was back at work and I was alone all day with a screaming baby who could not be settled no matter what I did, and who also wouldn’t sleep more than a few hours each night thanks to colic and general fussiness.

If this continues for her then she’s blessed, but I think it’s premature for her to be posting so frequently on social media almost trying to prove to her followers, and probably herself, that everything is great. She’s also acknowledged herself that she needs to take recovery seriously, she literally wet herself in a shop before giving birth and will still be bleeding now. It’s all so rushed for her social media appearance.

Tbh if someone I knew was that manic and happy a week after giving birth I would be worried for their mental health.

Such things CAN be a warning sign for serious issues like postpartum psychosis.

I had a wonderful pregnancy and birth and acknowledge that I was very lucky. I specifically remember sitting in a pub garden with my husband when baby was 1 week old and saying to each other that we've got really lucky and we're bossing this. Then a few days later the low hit, baby stopped sleeping, developed colic, and it took me a good 9 months to feel like I wasn't depressed. And yes Meg, I had intrusive thoughts of throwing my baby down the stairs!

Hopefully this doesn't happen to Meg, but I do thing you need to be cognisant that this is very early days and you're still riding high on the birth hormones. I also think it's only fair to acknowledge what an element of luck plays into your birth experience. You can do everything Meg did, and end up with an emergency c section. Birth is not a competition and trying hard does not always lead to the best outcome.

And some women (despite their best efforts), don’t meet amazing partners or find friends to send them pijamas. I feel like everything with her is not even subtle brag.

I think this sort of content is so damaging to new mothers. I remember my first few weeks as a mum and I was lucky, a good birth, support, getting out with my baby but her experience is on a whole other level. It can’t last but even if it’s not perfect I doubt she’ll share the reality. She seems desperately competitive to have the perfect new mother experience
