Completely agree that it’s a blessing that there aren’t kids left behind to deal with this trauma.
And I’m not without sympathy that MP could only deal with life through a haze of opiates, or whatever.
I’m reminded of a friend of Amy Winehouse saying that when Amy went through a period off booze and drugs, she was winning every accolade and producing some fine work.
But she allegedly turned to her friend after picking up an award one night and whispered that she hated it all, and she wasn’t enjoying life without the drugs.
For some people I guess that’s just their reality, sadly.
Oh don’t. That part of Amy is the saddest thing. It was after she won her grammys she said it 😔

I think what’s happened to Matthew Perry is very sad. I think he was the most talented of all the Friends actors but has squandered all his potential for his life on and off screen through his addictions. It’s such a shame he seems unable to get and stay clean. Like others have said I don’t see him living a long life as he already looks desperately ill.
I thought it was very interesting watching him on the reunion, he seemed less Hollywood than any of them, especially with the truth of ‘I don’t hear from anyone’
What they all had to cope with, such fame and intrusion etc he seemed to see through that life and couldn’t cope and lost his actual way whereas the others live and breathe Hollywood and coped in the way they needed the attention to thrive if that makes sense? Just my obs

We watch it every night and the great thing is he's frozen in time isn't he the entire show and you can restart it over again

It’s really sad as the online comments seem to have flipped so quickly to oh so he was just an addict despite what he said type thing.
So already it appears his death seems less tragic to most people which I kinda of get but also struggle with!!

He is probably the celebrity I’m saddest about dying. I have watched Friends for over 30 years and Chandler was always my favourite. It’s like he’s written into the fabric of my life!

Matthew Perry was just an easy mark for these bastards. How evil can you be to know someone has addiction issues, willingly supply this crap to him and have the temerity to call him a moron? It's disgusting. I hope Matthew is getting the last laugh on these parasitic bastards. I have no time for dealers.
Especially as a DOCTOR

The mail keeps posting pictures of the cast “looking sombre”
David Schwimmer was wearing a mask so you couldn’t even see his expression at all and Matt and Courteney were just driving in their cars so not sure how happy they’re supposed to look
Seeing your name now makes me so sad
I found it funny before but not now
It’s all so sad 😞

I think his body just gave up. If he'd been on the gear he'd have more in the house for a decent session/s for people to find afterwards unless it was disposed of which has happened on occassion in past cases.

Yeah the old fall off the wagon after abstinence and then take the old dosage levels is a common error I don't see it in this case. I've been wrong before though.
According to reports, there was medication in his house but it was stuff for depression, quitting smoking etc. There was also COPD medication in his house. Obviously, no one knows how bad he had it but I'm surprised he played pickleball as those who have it are usually told to be careful when it comes to exercise and not do anything that can make you breathless and running around a court batting a ball back and forward can be tiring for someone who has no lung issues. Add to that, he went straight into the jacuzzi which people who have lung issues are also urged not to do. Add to that the damage from his addiction...I agree with your theory that even though everything he did was stuff he had done before, that day was the day his body decided enough was enough.

What makes it worse is he wasn't actually under that long. According to TMZ, his body wasn't waterlogged the way some who have drowned are if they are under for a while so if someone had been there, there is a chance he could have been saved. I guess until the tox reports come through though we won't know and all anyone can do is surmise.

I was shocked that he had none of his own teeth left, and wore dentures. You could tell towards the end, but I wonder how long he had them?

Scrolling news stuff I found out that Adele paused her concert last night to pay a tribute to him and then sung this (apologies to anyone who hates Adele)

Oh Matty Perry. My heart still breaks for him. I still watch Friends. Its like a warm hug. He'll never know how many hard days he got me through. Friends was my comfort show at uni when I was homesick. It was there through everything.

I disliked him after I watched him being rude to Miriam Margoyles on The Graham Norton Show. Horrible man! He couldn’t have been less alike Chandler even if he tried.
I think this is why people are so sad, they're mourning Chandler more than/just as much as Matthew. He was an actor playing a part yet people think they're the same person. Ok he was a joker like Chandler but clearly there were differences between them as well. It's hard to seaparate the two when Friends has been such a big part of most of ours lives

So what kind of feeling does one get from ketamine. Is it like heroin?
Someone I used to work with said he took it and he couldn't sit down. He couldn't figure out where his seat was and said it wasn't a nice feeling. Guess it makes you spaced out, makes you feel relaxed like heroin would I imagine.
ETA It's an anesthetic so makes you relaxed. Apparently you can experience a k hole where you can't move.

I don’t think a single person has said he’s not to blame. Of course he is the one that was ultimately responsible for what happened but that doesn’t excuse the actions of the other people.

Should drug dealers never be prosecuted because they’re not forcing anyone to take drugs? Should drs that abuse their position for greed be allowed to get away with it because people are willing to pay them? All of the people involved knew they were breaking the law.

Still wondering how ‘there were no illegal drugs found at the scene’ according to the police report. Did the PA sweep the apartment while waiting for the emergency medics. At the level of injecting MP daily, there must have been a lot of drug paraphernalia involved.

Such devastating news for his family and friends. He seemed such a genuine guy who got caught in a web of addiction.

I feel really sad about this.
May he rest in peace 😢
