It's not about stalking though is it really! It's about someone plastering their children all over social media, without their informed consent, and profiting off of that. I wouldn't ever share personal information about "influencers'" children but the fact that we can find out so much about their lives so easily is scary. Then for them to have the cheek to tell people to respect their children's privacy, if their privacy is that important to you then don't share them! I could already tell you a lot about their lives just from Martha's page, I won't be posting the name of the children's school but it wasn't hard to work out which one it was. Her children have a distinctive uniform (which she has posted several pictures of them in) and one of her children is featured on the school website's homepage. I have zero intention of doing anything whatsoever with that information, however, if I can find that out why can't someone with evil intentions find it also. These insta pages always remind me of that scam advert that one of the banks did not too long ago, where they took pieces of information from a few social media posts and built up an entire picture of their lives!
I think highlighting the sheer amount of information people know and can find about her children and family is a good thing, maybe then she will think twice about what she posts. From just her instagram I know, her name, her husband's name, all her children's names and middle names, her dog's name and breed, her sister's name, her two nephews' names, the village she lives in, the village her parent's live in, her house number, the name of her parents' house, the age of all her children (and school years), what her children look like, when their birthdays are, where they've been on holiday, some of the children's likes and dislikes. None of that is from 'stalking' that is simply from what she shares online. Not to mention the fact her children have fairly distinctive names. It also didn't take too much brainpower to work out where her children go to school. Like I have said, I would of course NEVER do anything with this information but sadly there are people in the world who would and I don't think these influencers always realise quite how much strangers know and can know about their children, families and lives!
Whilst I don’t know the area where Martha lives I have looked at right move for instagrammers local to me. I also check out estate agents when a house has a For Sale sign up and I want to check how much it is and what it looks like inside. Who doesn’t do this? And let’s be honest, most of our houses would go up in value (usually at our personal expense) with a spanking brand new bathroom suite and expensive flooring.
