I wonder how the advertising team feels about wheeling him out to market, if he’s going to mansplain podcasts to CMOs and agency heads.

Was there anything else enlightening with Mark? I'd like to listen but not if it's the same life story she rehashes again and again.
Most of it you have probably heard before
She tried to downplay her father's success/wealth and even said they were working class but then changed that to middle class
Mentioned that 2 of her grandparents were doctors so def not working class
Mark knew her Dad as he worked at one of the top accounting firms in Sydney in the 80's so he probably knows the real story
He also seemed surprised that she just got a role doing work experience at ACP just by writing a letter to Lisa Wilkinson

But if you want goss on Mark I know plenty

Lol Luca's sister (also on the payroll) and Jessie's brothers are writing snarky comments back to people with criticism in the AFR instagram post. How embarrassing.

Ooh, she’s being very tricky adding up all her 50-something podcasts like that. No way do they get 8 million podcast listeners a month. The Mamamia LinkedIn says they get 7.5 million across the website, social media posts, live events and podcasts, which is a lot less impressive. A woman I follow on Instagram who has less than 200k followers just posted she had 4 million views in the last 30 days. Mia’s 8 million isn’t that impressive.

That was interesting reading about how the article came to be. Just shows that all of their articles are sponsored or planted
Does anyone else remember a few years ago, Mia wrote an article about why she hasn't/doesn't use Botox and has focused more on using skincare. She also discussed at length in a few podcasts. This was completely strategic. They had their 'Skin Summit' which was basically a conference for people to pay and listen to 'experts' talk all about skincare. Mia pushed it so heavily. Then bam, once the summit was complete, who do you think ran to their Dr for botox and then was like "I am allowed to change my mind". Everything they talk about on a personal level has an ulterior motive ie making money

All the “it’s a family business” are deliberately obfuscating the point. There’s nothing wrong with handing over the reigns to a family member but they’ve got to have demonstrated they can do the job.

Say what you want about the Murdoch kids, but they’ve been running smaller parts of the empire for decades, cutting their teeth. They’ve made a lot of public mistakes and god knows it’s obvious they didn’t get much protection/ soft landing from Rupert when they did.

How can you be a strong CEO if mum and dad have made it so easy for you to move up.

CEO’s usually have a remit around change-management: they need to move the business from point A to point B. It can be gruelling, especially in media companies which are all really doing it tough right now. It takes soft and hard skills, it takes EXPERIENCE.

but yeah it’s a private company and there’s no shareholders - so aside from the 200ish employees, he doesn’t really have a duty of care to succeed I suppose. The market can ultimately decide.

This is from the SMH facebook page. I think the issue isn’t just that it’s a child of the founders, but the fact that a male has been appointed the CEO of ‘the nations largest-women’s focused media company’. I wonder what the recruitment process was like?? Not a great headline!

Mia pronounced with such certainty that Nicole and Keith’s daughter was called ‘Grace’ when she was discussing word of the year. Their daughter’s name is Faith. Does anyone there fact check anything?
