The DNA thing is very odd! The kids shared a toothbrush apparently! Now I can completely buy that you forgot to pack their toothbrushes 3 under 3 and all that - but did she just pack one? Cus that's odd! Or did they realise and then go to the shop and just buy one, cus thats odd.
I don't know much about DNA transfers but wouldn't Maddie's DNA be on cuddle cat? The one that they washed!!!
And they went to the dump to get rid of the rooms broken mini fridge, allegedly. So you're willing to do that on your precious holiday, rather than just ask the hotel to replace it; but you won't nip into the pharmacy for a toothbrush?

Well, we know for a fact they lied about leaving the door unlocked. And only admitted to it once the police proved there was no way the window had been ‘jemmied’ as claimed.
And lying about leaving a door unlocked in that situation is far from relatively minor.
Who knows what else they’re lying about, if they are only admitting to facts when caught bang to rights.

I don’t know why they bothered bringing the kids on holiday. They were in kids club all day and then left to sleep all on their own whilst their parents went out for the evening.
My eldest isroughly the same age as Madeleine and i was horrified at the time. It wasn’t normal then.
That's the saddest thing. I don't have children, but when I've been on holidays to resorts in Spain and Portugal, they have always had very family friendly places. It's so common for kids to be eating out with their families of an evening, and it's not unusual to see them asleep in buggies/pushchairs or having a little dance/play around even when the adults are enjoying a drink or two afterwards.

There was also the deliberate confusion the McCanns created, if people believed their initial lies then yes some might agree they had done something similar. The McCanns had everyone believing it was akin to dining in your own garden, the apartment had been left secure, regular checks, Kate’s brazen lie about it being a max 30 second walk away etc.
The true circumstances of how they left those children is unfathomably risky to any sane person.
Hard agree with this post! The only reason "everything did it" was cus everyone thought they were talking about sitting in the garden whilst the kids were in bed.
I was a teenager and even I knew you don't leave kids alone. I don't know a single person my age who was left alone (80s baby, 90s kid).

It took a good few days for Gerry and Kate to even admit they had left the apartment unlocked, only once their ‘jemmied window’ narrative had been ruled out. All creating a lot of confusion.
See this is the bit I'll never understand, your baby daughter is missing and the first thing you think of is making up lies to save your own skin and potentially pushing the investigation in the wrong direction in critical hours.

I personally think that the McCanns are lying about something and in my personal opinion it's the check ins. I strongly doubt that they were checking on the kids as much as they say they were, if at all. And they know, deep down, no matter how they try and spin it, that the public would be wildly against them if they admitted it. So they behave strangely to cover up that lie.
I have often wondered if this is the case. They have lied about something because their statements and behaviour were all over the place, but it could be as simple as they lied about checking the children to make themselves look better, but it’s had the unfortunate effect of making them look like they are lying about something much worse.
That said, I’ve always felt that the dog evidence is correct.

I think Gerry has a fundamentally unforunate manner. Kate too but not as much.

I feel like even if you took the fact they left their babies alone out of things they'd still be weirdly unsympathetic people.

Well that’s the start of the odd behaviour isn’t it? Then there is
1. why ring sky news before the police
2. Why set up a find maddie fund immediately
3. why didn’t you search for her yourself
4. Why put your twins in a crèche immediately afterwards whilst you played tennis
5. why lie about the broken shutter
6. Why continually push the narrative about the crying the night before
7. why did Gerry have to fly home to get some DNA evidence?
8. why wash her favourite toy

could go on &on it’s certainly not the behaviour of parents with a child that has been abducted 🧐

Quoting myself to say the woman was "behaving suspiciously in the early hours of 7th May".
I take it all with a pinch of salt. It's the anniversary coming so perfect time to wheel out new suspects and top up the fund.
BIB

Yep. They have had many millions from the public to "search for Madeleine". Meanwhile, many other children have gone missing, many frantic families are searching, and as far as I am aware not a penny has been offered to look for lost/ abducted children who have a much better chance of being found than a child - now a young woman if she is still alive - who disappeared nearly 20 years ago,

I'm afraid this sticks in my craw.

It’s quite plain that they really just wanted/needed a holiday without kids seeing as all the kids were in daycare all day and left alone at night. If only they had left them with Nan and grandad/uncle Aunt or a trusted au pair/nanny for the week.

Couldn’t agree more @Glencoe

A plausible scenario is that they found the door wide open and Madeleine missing, and in the pressurised situation decided that they HAD to make it look like a break-in in order to set themselves up as victims of a bogeyman intruder and/or Mark Warners faulty window.

Gerry in particular strikes me as the cold, rational type to realise quickly they would be looking at losing their medical licences, jobs, careers, home, reputation, the twins etc. Possibly a conviction. There needed to be someone (even nameless and faceless, for a while) in the frame, otherwise it’s them.
It does fit with how selfishly they behaved prior to Madeleine’s disappearance.

It’s tricky for many of us to contemplate that mindset because logically it means you wouldn’t have left them in the first place.

I’d love to know what good a listening service would do when a child is choking or worse, especially when the parents are sat in a restaurant how far away

Wilson gives me grifter vibes.... sorry to say. His programme with emilia fox was shite.
Yes it was. He lost a lot of credibility for that IMO.

Personally I’m not interested in whether the case would have got less publicity if it had happened to a working class family. I’m also uninterested in going over and over whether they were wrong to leave the children (of course they were). Or whether the McCanns are unlikeable.

The question is what happened to her. My money is on her waking up and wandering off and being picked off by a predator in the same way as Sarah Payne. Anything else is wild fantasy from people who fancy themselves as great thinkers/sleuths. See also the wild theories about Jay Slater. Morons like that Hayley Comet woman pretending to have a brain cell.

I think Digital Spy must be run by a man with a nappy fetish who identifies as a foetus because nobody could question anything about trans people on there, there was one thread where everyone was saying there was nothing wrong with men wearing nappies in the workplace (seriously) and you'd get an immediate ban if you said anything that might be deemed gender critical. They were just as militant about the McCanns, an absolute bloody farce of a forum.
Yeh i was on digital spy for years and the McCann threads were quickly deleted.

I actually think folk would really have taken to them and empathised just a bit if they hadn't doubled down.

If they had given interviews saying yes thsy thought it was safe but in retrospect they're sending a message saying please dont do it, we've paid the ultimate price, but the 'its like eating in your garden' really riled folk as it obviously wasnt.

I mean they KNEW her and Sean had cried for 90 minutes the night before, how callous do you have to be to leave them?

Maybe if you were sure they werent going to wake up? Strange the twins slept through it all and for hours after. They were never tested for substances.

With the twins, even if you had drugged them why not get them tested and say the abductor must have done it. I agree with the above, they hindered the case so much. And soon, they'll be wheeling out some more "news" so the fund can be topped up.
I think because hair testing shows up a lot. Think bands along the hair like rings in a tree, so for an adult say cocaine sept, amphetamines December etc
So if they regularly used drugs on their kids, it would show that up. What other reason would you not allow it?

I agree. I haven't ever thought to leave my kids anywhere on holiday. We eat together, we follow them around the pool or on the beach. I don't use holiday clubs either, my kids don't seem keen on them and I don't really like the idea of them.
Exactly! Once you have kids your holidays change. We’ve taken our little boy on quite a few since a young age and that meant yeh maybe our main meal was at 4pm if that was his nap time in the pram at that stage as we knew we had a window to eat or yes we accept we cannot go climbing mountains anymore or the stage now is holidays with kids activities and water parks (not my cup of tea but we want to spend time with him). You adapt or leave them with family at home!

What i cant understand is, Kate found Maddie missing and immediately jumped to the conclusion someone had taken her. She then immediately leaves the apartment to run to the tapas bar leaving twins still sleeping. If it had been me id have screamed blue murder fron the balcony. She thought her daughter had been taken and left the twins?
