If they have evidence that Madeleine is definitely dead, then why do the Met go out to Portugal every summer to investigate further? Surely it’s a waste of time and money.

Also, if the German police have informed the McCanns of this, then why is the Madeleine fund still accepting donations to find her?

That's quite an aggressive response, considering all I've done is explain German privacy laws and that a due process wasnt followed, leading to 'evidence' being deemed inadmissible? German federal and state prosecutors have spent public funds on trying to find more evidence to confirm their suspicions, if they hadn't built a decent and solid case, that wouldn't have been allowed. Furthermore, people in the UK have been convicted on far flimsier circumstantial evidence than the items/dates/times the German police have listed. What's sad about this is the fact that other children may be victims of this man and any evidence unearthed cannot be used to find justice for them either. It's so sad.

To find her remains?

Just to add, the evidence I am referring to was found in 2016, then the case was passed to prosecutors/Herr Wolters, so contrary to this belief that he wanted to make a name for himself it seems to be in the contrary. He had evidence to make the connection to CB and MM but anything that could be used didnt meet the threshold for CB to be charged or go to trial. This is why he appealed for any information back in 2020, to try and meet that threshold, it wasn't on a whim or simply trying to make a name for himself.

It is wild how much money and resource has been spent on this case when some missing persons cases here barely get anything. The fund is fair enough as people can choose whether to donate.

Erm, my post wasn’t aggressive at all. 🤔

Argh not you, im sorry, my quote didnt pull through and now I cannot edit! It was the one from Lady H which I just felt was a bit aggressive towards me when I've only tried to explain process and the prosecutors problems with the items they have but can't use, hence their public appeals for information in the past few years. I am sorry.

No worries. I was just confused. 😳😄

Apparently there is evidence though, which the polizei were not able to use because of the way it was found. A police officer was walking her dog and found a trove of evidence and rather than getting a warrant and following process, she unearthed it and took it to her police station and it was deemed to be inadmissible because she didnt follow the correct procedure - as there were no witnesses to where it was found, when it was found or what was actually found, it could theoretically all be false and/or planted. But they did look into it and are of the belief Maddie died (so much so that they informed her parents of this and why they hold this belief) - the only way they could have 'got him' following this is finding more evidence, her body or a confession from him.
I keep seeing this stated but would love to understand the source or if this is just a rumour. This case is such an echo chamber with so much wooly intel being stated as gospel 😵💫

I find it a weird coincidence that an off-duty police officer’s dog just happened to run onto land linked to CB, and just happened to pick up a scent and/or unearth something which just happened to link to MM and just happened to be inadmissible as evidence.

The entire thing, from the very beginning, has been a mess.

Honestly it sounds completely made up. Like a complete load of tit to explain ‘proof’ of CB being guilty and why he can’t be prosecuted. Unless it’s come from an actual reliable source I don’t believe it.

There are some out there that can't see past it being a giant conspiracy to cover up the parents murdering MM. No matter what you present them with in contrary they just can't get past it. I think it's a weird projection thing to be honest.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to be aggressive towards you. I was just bouncing off your posts to explain my thoughts. Apologies if it came off as personal, that wasn’t my intention.

But you could quite easily say the same for people who can’t see past the McCann’s apparent total innocence. No matter what you present them with in contrary they just can’t get past it. I guess that could also be seen as a “weird projection thing to be honest” if you want to see it like that.

I personally think there are multiple forces and people who failed MM, from start to finish. The parents should have been investigated for neglect - the feeling I get is that 'they will have suffered enough already, any punishment will give them will not compare etc etc'. They should have been looked in to. All of the Tapas 9 should have been interviewed properly. The Portuguese police didnt lock the scene down properly. They also focused on the wrong people and caused delays and issues. The German policewoman should have left her findings where they were and followed process - the warehouse was searched properly a month later with a warrant and they found about 70 children's swimming costumes, guns, more photos and USB sticks with chats and videos; information that they have been able to release because it was handled correctly according to German law so God only knows what was on the hard drives the policewoman lifted that cannot be used but apparently link CB to MM. Not to mention the yearly holiday the Met Police take to Portugal to 'look for clues'. Failed at every turn.

This may seem an odd thing to say, but part of me hopes that it was an accidental death in the apartment that was covered up because I think the other option would just be so awful for Madeleine. I don't want to even think about what horrors she’d have endured.
Whatever did happen to her, I agree she was failed by so many people.

If only it was an accident by her stupid, neglectful parents (and sadly I don’t believe it was). You’re right, the alternative doesn’t bear thinking of. Especially if she was taken by this Christian B or someone like him.

I wonder about the possibility of stolen to be sold into illegal adoption and having her real past hidden from her... but now she's an adult and we have internet and 24 hour news, I doubt Madeleine could be alive as an adult and not find out who she is and come forward if able.

So I, too, "hope" she died very quickly and there was nobody else involved.

I go back and forth on Kate and Gerry but common sense tells me there is just no way they could have got away with it all these years. While you do get criminals who hide in plain sight, the McCanns surely became simply too infamous too quickly to pull it off? I also don't believe at all that they would have harmed her on purpose beyond the neglect, it would have been some sort unforseen circumstances and then they panicked.

Mostly I feel like she got up looking for her parents, had an accident and died. Still awful but not like being taken and held by someone like CB would be.
