I’m praying that’s the reason for the press conference. I don’t know why you would call a press conference to say ‘we are going to do this’ rather than ‘we have done this’.

I imagine the court judges won’t take too kindly to this approach though.

I keep wondering whether the amount of discussion around her convictions would make it more or less likely they will proceed with charges. Her team can hardly argue she wouldn’t receive a fair trial when they are the ones with the loudest voices since July. But I would worry that it’s possibly prejudicial in her favour now.

CPS may see it in the public interest to proceed because of how many are voicing doubt. It would give the opportunity for yet another jury to not accept the new defence and experts. Evans wouldn’t be involved in a new trial so the argument against him wouldn’t stand anymore either. It would almost have the same impact as an appeal but with no risk of her current convictions being overturned, if that makes sense.

I don't see how any of those experts McDonald has trotted out could testify though, they have skin in the game now, and surely would need to be independent not have a bias?

I think the press conference screams desperation, they have nothing but can highlight parts of the case most of the general public won't be aware of and add a medical expert and blind people with science. The CoA will reject it as she has already had a chance to appeal it. The CCRC will take years while the MSM forgets all about Letby's supporters. This is them trying to stay relevant. New charges will probably be pressed in the New Year and most of the public will go back to thinking she's guilty.

The two who wrote the reports (Aiton and Dimitrova) are not making any more public statements for that reason. But it’s who McD has chosen to instruct to provide the ‘new’ evidence before appeal judges. they will be the ones who have to testify. And if they do testify (I guess McD could choose not to call them which would be interesting) then I’ve no doubt BNE would try and discredit them as not independent or without bias.It would certainly be a very interesting cross examination!

It’s why I think it shows they really don’t have many options because he’s taking a risk with people who’ve already spoken so publicly, signed names to letters. Especially Dimitrova who is even said to have reported Evans to GMC. On what basis who knows!

Mc D has no plans to bring Taylor and Norwich infront of a judge and jury which is why they became the messengers the other day. Even if McD does have 50 experts he wouldn’t be allowed to use them all. He would select who he thinks his best out of that bunch. Which tells us a lot from what we’ve seen so far 😄

Dimitrova won't be able to be an expert witness in this case - or any other case for that matter.

He only uses experts who had already made up their minds. If he puts the job out into the wild the likelihood is he'll get someone who agrees with the prosecution case.

Wow. Where do I start. Not only does he think there should be a retrial, he also thinks he knows what verdict the jury will come to. Despite not seeing any of the so called new evidence himself, that’s not even been cross examined.

Secondly, a sitting MP is quite happy to repeat the baseless, unchallenged accusations that a doctor killed baby O. This is bleeping disgraceful.

A photo with a few box files doesn’t prove you spent months investigating the Letby case.

So he’s not even read the medical records and he’s going on record at a press conference with his ‘expert’ opinion? 🤦🏼‍♀️

It makes me really uncomfortable that these people can speak so openly at a press conference about a dead (murdered) baby like this. For PR purposes because this is purely an attempt for the general public to get on side with Letby.

The poor parents 😢

And of course he gets to say all this entirely unchallenged! Unlike the prosecution experts in a court of law.
Just listened to this again. Dr Taylor describes a theory as fact here. He says the doctor lacerated the liver accidentally with a needle, which was not proven with the medical evidence. He then says this causes the baby to bleed and collapses. The medical evidence says the laceration of the liver didn't bruise but there was a massive haemotoma on the underside of the liver which was caused by an impact. Dr Taylor doesn't mention that but that is where the baby was hemorrhaging from, along with two other haemotomas on the left and right side. He is publicly accusing a doctor of harming a baby through negligence with no evidence! How is this not slander?

It is the lying and misleading that I find so disgusting in all this. What are these people getting out of this?

Over in the crazy alternative universe which is Twitter, Brian is suggesting people send Lucy a Christmas card.

I watched the full press conference last night ( for my sins ! )
Staggering doesn’t even cover it.
The independent article just about sums it up.
As if we didn’t know already she’s finished.

Interesting article from a former Commissioner of the Criminal Cases Review Commission

Are you able to screenshot or get round the paywall please?

I like the part where McDonald says he hasn't asked Letby's defence why they didn't call any expert witnesses

I think she’ll eventually fess up once her parents pass away, but until then will half heartedly maintain her innocence.
I think she'll go a similar route Bundy did and offer 'advice' if something similar happens again. Not ever naming herself, posing a lot of 'If that happens, then this happens and that's why they did what they did' type answers.

Bundy did eventually confess but only because he was about to be killed.

Dr Taylor was flown especially from Canada, to read a report. Whose paying for all this?

im weak that he’s added her DOB to the Christmas card address as if there’s another Lucy Letby floating around HMP Bronzefield 😂

Can you imagine working in Bronzefield's post room? they would need a full time worker to deal with the Letby correspondence. The mail she must receive some making out she's an angel the rest a devil.
