And, I'm on one now, the jury have an obligation to the system and the parents to deliver a verdict in as timely manner as possible, not messing about taking time off at this stage.

I've said previously I hope they are excused any further duty due to the length of the trial, I now hope they are never called again as I'm not sure they are up to the task.

Sorry if this seems harsh as I know it's been a long trial but there have been so many delays.

I’m hoping that whatever new directions Goss the Boss has for them today, he gives them a few little reminders about using the charges to inform each other, that they don’t need to know exactly what happened (only that intentional harm was caused) that the evidence for the insulin in their blood is indisputable, it’s only a case of who put it there. These are all things he helped them with before and I’d be happy to see him give them another nudge on those points!

Pregnant juror theory is possible too, could have gone in to labour this afternoon. That’s a good personal reason imo, stranger things have happened

Judge says it’s not significant that they’ve lost a juror, and it happens ‘not infrequently’… just hope they hurry up before anything else happens!

Goss thanked the juror for their service for “the extremely long period of time” of the trial, which began in October.

He said: “I imagine it will be slightly frustrating for you but it’s an inevitability. I’m sorry you can’t continue.

Hmm this makes me wonder if it could actually be an unrelated juror to the previous absences. Maybe the juror / judge knew this would be the last day they could sit, for example if they are getting married this weekend. Maybe everyone hoped a verdict would be reached before today.

It would explain why the juror deliberated all day and judge only discharged them at 4pm.

The annoying this is that if the jury had sat every day since they started to deliberate, we might have had a verdict by now.

It's the families I feel sorry for. They've already had to wait all that time, then sit through the trial where LL came out with arguably implausible answers or "I can't recall" non-answers. Just to add insult to injury they have to wait through jury absences.

Maybe I'm being harsh. I get that sometimes unforeseen circumstances can happen, they just seem to have happened quite a bit with this case, and each extra day must be so frustrating/upsetting for the families.

That's what i'm thinking. If you were close you would just carry on for the next couple of days, even if you were dealing with a death or ill health. Short of having to start chemo tomorrow there isn't much that would get them excused if they were only hours away from a verdict.

maybe though they told the judge they weren’t going to be able to make it to court tomorrow and this was his breaking point? That’s my hope anyway! he might not know where they are at deliberation wise.

My thoughts too. If they were close, then surely, they’d be able to last until the end of the week. I think we are far off.

I don’t know - it sounds like an urgent situation to me. Sometimes you just have drop everything if it’s a life/death situation no matter what. I don’t necessarily think it means they weren’t getting close.

The jury need to get a move on as a matter of priority. Fuck their appointments. Sorry, not sorry. They sound like a bunch of piss takers hanging up notes to the judge for time off. In the middle of deliberations? Madness.

Well I’m going to be a bald temporary EX-Ginger! . God dammit!! 8 cycles so not too bad. I’m allowing myself to wallow today and then I’ve to get this house in order before it starts at the end of August/beginning of September.

Ahhh my little love, I promise you that if I could I would take it all away and give it to LL! It must be daunting and you wallow all you want today but then tomorrow its big pants on day. You get yourself ready to fight and get rid of the fucker.

I think Boss Man Goss needs to crack the whip. They are the jury on one of the most complex and horrible trials we are ever likely to see. The only thing they should assume is that they are required to show up during sitting hours until the job is done. I’ve no doubt they’ve all made lots of sacrifices big and small up to this point and for that I am sorry. But this is the law and how it works, they need to respect the process. It’s bad luck for them they’ve been selected for this particular trial and lost the best part of a year but the parents (and the accused) have been in this for 7 years. Now on the home stretch and trying to take a week off because someone else has had to drop out? No no no!
