I have been following these threads since day one but have never been brave enough to comment. I am a neonatal nurse and work on an intensive care unit, taking care of babies from 400g in weight and 22 weeks gestation. I have found this trial so difficult to follow. I look after the sickest and smallest babies and know how hard we all work for each and every baby to try and keep them safe. We all miss breaks, we stay late to do whatever we can to help them. It is undoubtedly an extremely stressful job which can be really sad, but to see the most fragile of babies grow, develop and go home after months of really difficult treatment is so wonderful and makes the job so unbelievably rewarding. The hardest part is seeing the babies struggle and seeing parents going through the worst time of their lives and trying to do whatever you can to try and make it even the slightest bit easier for them. To think that someone, anyone, would hurt these fragile babies and torture parents even more then they are already is unthinkable and sickens me so much. I wholeheartedly believe that Lucy is guilty of all counts. In neonates it is so rare for babies to have a cardiac arrest, normally a decision is made to switch to palliative care when every avenue of treatment has been tried. To think that the little ones in this case all had cardiac arrests out of the blue is unbelievable. I hope the jury comes to the right decision and puts this monster away for good.

Nobody that’s been on these threads for nine months is disrespecting the families. We enjoy absolutely ripping the piss out of the murdering bitch. If you want to tell people they’re being disrespectful, head to Facebook where you can find them going on about where Lucy can holiday in Ibiza and how wonderful she is, that the babies were all going to die anyway, comparing them to cats and so on. This has been the most respectful place to the babies. We care about them deeply and want justice. After nine months in-jokes have developed and a humour that helps get through the darkness of the case that is all. The joke was and has always been on LETBY.

Question for everyone though. Can you cuddle and hold a 7wk old baby too much? Some family members (and Mr Caledonian at times) seem to think I hold mini Caledonian too much and should put him down... My argument is that he's tiny and I'll never get this time again as having no more kids.
I was told the same with Lil Bluey and honestly, he still loves a Mummy cuddle. He's 12 and every single morning when I'm helping him dress he sits on my knee and gives me a big beautiful cuddle
(For any newbies my youngest has Downs, it's not some weird Oedipus Complex situation

I picked ‘guilty of some not all - majority’ because I think statistically the chances are high there might be at least one difficult juror. And that they may struggle to get a majority on some of the ‘weaker’ cases.
I think she’s guilty of all beyond reasonable doubt but it’s pot luck with who ends up on the jury and it concerns me how many people we’ve seen struggle with the evidence.

It could happen, it probably does happen and I completely agree that the NHS is probably an extremely toxic place to work. If they did want to throw somebody under the bus to cover mistakes I reckon there would have been a lot easier ways to do it. Accuse her of negligence or incompetence to save a doctor’s arse.

She is on trial for 22 charges. Attempted murder and murder. It’s hugely complex, it’s taken years to get to trial, it’s opened up the hospital for all kindsof
and nobody is saying the hospital hasn’t been negligent or blameless. It’s thrown a spotlight on the people that have worked there.

And we’ve heard it all, defence and prosecution. The defence could have had a field day with the scapegoat theory if that’s what it was. It was mentioned, but hardly put forward as a defence in my view.

Some numpty on mumsnet is suggesting the babies collapsed because they were separated from their parents. If that was the case then babies would be constantly collapsing in nicus all across the country. Most nicu's have a handful of parent rooms so the vast majority of parents can't stay there 24/7.

IMO it’s almost impossible.
Guilty:
Multiple witnesses including nurses
Multiple independent witnesses
Confession notes
Searching victim’s families
Hoarding vast amounts of paperwork on victims, taken from the bin
Inconsistent ‘facts’ from Letby herself
‘Seeing’ a baby deteriorate in a darkened room
Falsifying paperwork
All deaths correlate with her shift (doctors are typically rotated so there would not be one present on shift for every death). We also know there were multiple doctors from the witness statements.
Deaths suddenly stop when she’s away.
Obsession with being present for baby deaths, when explicitly told not to
Innocent:

Nobody else willing to act for defense, even independently
‘Maybe there’s a conspiracy’ because doctors can be mean to nurses.
I understand you may have some personal experience that influences you but looking at the evidence, for this specific case, it’s a nonsensical hypothesis.
In addition, Letby was actively protected from valid safeguarding concerns; Rees appears to have had far more power than the doctors, given their concerns were dismissed and took a long time to be considered, and she was enabling her.

I voted guilty of some not all unanimously. I think she is guilty of all personally but I do see how the jury could struggle with a few of the charges.
