I bloody love Liverpool, the friendliest people ever. First time there on my own I was having a wander along the docks and smiled at someone they stopped and talked to me for ages and then another guy was like “you alright love” big smile and talking, I got my mirror out my bag incase I had something funny on my face
( probs just my face) honestly it was a shock being from London, when someone speaks to you .. very slowly and carefully move away, no fast movements and AVOID any eye contact

First time I went to Liverpool I went in the Wetherspoons near the station and had about 3 people chat to me in the first half hour of being in there. Bit of a culture shock compared to London, made me want to move up there!

That sounds like a foreign language - I've just tried saying it and I think you need the accent for it to make sense

ETA- not to offend anyone - I'm just rubbish at trying to do accents other than scouse and generic northern!

Blimey, I agree with a previous poster, coming on here this morning was like walking into a room where you didn't get the memo and you forgot to put your pants on as well Born a Lancashire lass I defected down South in my early 20's and stayed here 30 yrs! Geographically, if not spiritually an Essex girl now though.
My lovely dad still lives oop North by the sea, as do a wide (humungous actually) range of relatives (Irish catholic family). Not heard the 'gait' thing (don't they say 'gan' in Yorkshire? a past tense of 'go' , no doubt) but a few phrases below which transport me straight back.:-

'give it some welly'
'ay (eh) up'
'bob out t't shop' (we tend to say 'pop out' down here)
I'm sure there are loads more

It's actually been lovely finding this thread as so many of you are from the North I've felt very much at home from the off - thanks everyone ...aw, group hug

I don't think BNE or BM were wrong though? BNE said the amount of insulin in baby L was double that of baby F - and I think Myers was referring to the amount of insulin added to the bag. There's a difference in how the insulin was added for baby L and baby F which means it's not about just the dosage. With F it was added into the stock bag, with L it was added into the bag of dextrose. So BNE was saying LL ensured she dosed it so the baby ended up with more insulin in his body, and BNE said she did a smaller dose. But a smaller dose could still be more insulin in a baby as it depends on whether it was the fast acting type (which L's was, they never specified which for F), baby's existing levels, and over how many hours. Reporting hasn't been clear but I think BNE and BM were comparing two different things that has confused people.

That's how I've interpreted it....BM just talking balls...the only intent of adding insulin was to kill, in my opinion...no other reason....the fact she didn't manage it, is a blessing for the babies, cos she " didn't do it right"

Its a Sunderland accent North East. I don't think you'll offend anyone in here, we're all good

For those asking “she’s agate (agait)” is a particular east Lancs (Blackburn or Burnley area) way of saying “so she said”, for example instead of saying “he said Lucyfer is not guilty and she said ‘don’t talk out of yer a’”, it would be “he’s agait ‘not guilty’ but she’s agait ‘guilty as duck’”
My mum used to say it all the time, God rest her soul.

living down south now I’ve found the main northern things they don’t understand are ‘get wrong’ and ‘twisting’.
