This isn’t the same as Rebecca Leighton was only arrested, not charged and they never took it as far as trial (the mistake was discovered very quickly). Also that was a very short investigation before they arrested her - nothing like the years they spent on LL.
Agree with another poster that both the nurse Lucia and the Italian one released on appeal are irrelevant as (a) they didn’t go through the jury process, Netherlands and Italy have different judicial systems and it’s panel of judges not jury (b) there were mistakes made in alibis and technical evidence, not relevant here as it’s all time stamped and electronic and LL has admitted to it.
That crackpot statistician professor is always publicising it but refuses to discuss why he’s had no luck with an appeal in the UK as we have a higher threshold of evidence for CPS to get to trial than NL and Italy. Certainly in this case they took a lot of time to ensure there weren’t mistakes - and it’s been so thorough.
Also from all the health care serial killers convicted globally, how many have actually gotten out on appeal..? It’s statistically negligible, even if you look at just the UK. People look at headlines like the one above but don’t go into the details and get swayed by the statistician and his fan club who promote the case of Lucia everywhere only coz he wants the publicity.
. I’m sorry but even the ones that are voting not guilty not enough evidence can fuck off. Not enough evidence ??? What the hell have been listening to for 8 months!!
