I think if you look at the porn industry compared to any other though the % of people who do go off the rails would be much higher than, for example, standard acting. Whether that it is because people who go into it initially are somewhat damaged beforehand and therefore decide to is the question I guess. Especially now when, as people have said, porn is just becoming more and more extreme

Lisa Ann did do quite big gangbangs according to her IAFD credits but she was also a director later in her career. I would argue given her fame she probably had a lot of star power in the industry that helped her not be treated poorly even in more extreme scenes, but I think the problem is now it is mainstream to shoot rough/extreme scenes with young women whereas that wasn't the case even ten years ago.
