It's usually harder to spot in girls. I've thought from an early age my daughter has it as she has arfid an eating disorder closely linked to asd, she didn't walk until she was almost two as she didn't like putting her feet on the floor, wouldn't wear socks or shoes, wouldn't let me wash or brush her hair or brush her teeth. She's seven now and avoids eye contact, is very quiet, becomes quite fixated on certains things, recently she was obsessed with elf on the shelf and now everything is lilo and stitch. She struggles to follow directions or instructions, uses her sister to speak for her, very rarely do I get a cuddle or "love you". She is now struggling with school and more or less requires extra support on a daily basis. Thankfully since having a multi team meeting with her consultants, teachers etc. She is now being referred for a SEN assessment but it doesn't get anymore support than she is already getting. if Layke does have ASD, im glad if they have diagnosed early and can get the support, interventions and help from an early age. But unfortunately there is such a long waiting list she may not get a diagnosis until primary or even high school.
