mm fajitas sound good. Doesn’t help that I need to do a shop, I’ve been living on soup because it requires no prep or effort.
Fajitas are really good! I slow cook diced steak, then fry onions & peppers, add the steak, seasonings and tomato purée and a little water 😋 serve with swede chips and soured cream 😛

Hello can I join you please? I’ve got my food shop arriving on Saturday with lots of protein, veg and cheese to start with gusto! Would you mind if I posted my daily food to keep on track?
Try not to have loads of protein and this can effect ketosis and weight loss! Also make sure you replenish your electrolytes 😁

I use carb manager and it is a fantastic app!!
Lots of people think it's very unhealthy to eat in the keto way, however it is shown to reduce cholesterol, stabilise diabetes and is recommended to epilepsy patients. They can't all be wrong.
Oh for sure, I’m not disputing it as I’ve read tonnes of advice - it’s just not my personal preference. I’ve always preferred more lean meats and just can’t overload on the dairy. It takes a lot to re programme yourself to recognise that low fat is so bad and full fat is good. It’s nice to be able to have real butter and cream, just a shame you can’t slather it on bread! I can’t even make alternatives out of almond flour as I have a severe tree nut allergy😔

I have PCOS whicj I really need to get under control
Can either of you point me the direction of any decent reading material
I haven’t really read anything that recommends keto for pcos but everything I have ever read about diets for pcos say that carbs should be limited. This is due to insulin resistance and how it’s stored. I was originally looking at low GI but it’s just too complicated and I can’t be bothered faffing around and working out how the content of a foods GI has changed when it’s cooked a certain way etc. Low carb definitely just fits into my lifestyle and is very easy to do when you put your mind to it. Only thing I would say is there is also a lot of stuff online saying that dairy is very bad for pcos. I am fine with it but I know others have benefitted from removing it which can be slightly tricky with keto / low carb as you become quite limited. I don’t drink milk anymore in coffee but I use a lot of cheese and cream in cooking!!

On day three and I am feeling so snackish. I have been adding more fats to my meals but I still feel the urge to gorge on cookies and sweets and all those carb things!
did anyone else struggle with this in their first few days/weeks? I’ve planned out my day macro wise and by the end of the day I will be over by 200 calories because I just smacked - still only 16g of carbs though.
I’m hoping things will calm down next week and I can start cutting down on calories (I want to lose about 50lb) but right now it’s so hard 😩

I’m on Day 9 and I’ve been the same - just eating a lot like bits of cheese, pork scratchings etc. I have read that at 3 weeks in you will become fat adapted and this is the time people start to not feel very hungry and can go longer between meals due to the way the body is now digesting everything. Fingers crossed that happens! 😂

First day done! Managed 26g carbs most of which came from cashews but they’re gone now, easy to overdo the nuts isn’t it!

Had a really nice dinner, the beef and pork mince from Asda is 👌 and the courgetti was decent too, didn’t miss the pasta too much, but I do have a headache now - chugging the water now to help.

I read that it takes 21 days (roughly) to become fat adapted so I’ve done a little tick off countdown on my notes app for a little visual to help

What would you say are your firm lunch and dinner favourites? Any good things to buy, snacks, alternatives? I’m so out of touch with the diet!
Definitely eggs bacon chipolatas for breakfast, I get gluten free ones from tescos. I want to start having Chaffles as well which are so good but I forget about them! Maybe after my low carb bread has gone. Heinz do a low carb ketchup which is a game changer

Lunch i like halloumi and chorizo salads atm, I’ve found that tesco do a low sugar bbq sauce so I’ve been using that and ranch as the salad dressing which is amazing. If not I tend that to have deli meat and mozzarella, olives, loads of lettuce 🥬 and some olive and balsamic dressing

Dinner is just meat and veg tbh! I don’t have it in me to get too creative after work but no lean meat and stick to green veg, we’ve had beef brisket, chicken thighs, sausages and pork steaks this week. I would like to make the fathead pizza dough again because it’s so good

Snacks I like are cheesies, dark chocolate, babybel and pepperami, also Iceland do some salt and pepper wings that are like 0g carbs, you get about 24 in a pack for 3 quid and they’re so good!

Today’s menu came to about 1600 calories
B - 2 sausages, 2 bacon, 2 eggs and cheese

L - chorizo and halloumi salad with bbq and ranch dressing

D - sausages and green beans

S - 2 packs of cheesies and a square of dark chocolate

Not sure if this is still an active thread? I’m doing my second time at keto and doing ok, I did it back in 2019 lost 80lb in a year then lockdowns came and I lost all motivation and gained it back over 2 years ... been back on track since Jan this year and am at 53lb loss so far. It’s definitely slower progress this time round but I am post menopause now, have others found it slower progress after menopause?

Same! It's a horrible feeling isn't it, as you don't feel your best, lightest self!

I've actually had a right 'mare, I gave myself gastritis by drinking so much prosecco –– apparently a high fat diet mixed with lots of alcohol can really f**k up your stomach, so I've been bloated and blocked up for weeks! Hate it! I'm on Omeprazole now to try and remedy it.

Feeling so bloated definitely puts a dampener on motivation, I want that lovely light feeling again!

Oh and also, @Cantdeal, have you tried a magnesium supplement? They work to get things moving! ;)
I know, really is, I feel much lighter when I do manage to go.

I haven't drank any alcohol since I started Keto 4 weeks ago, but that's because I am home, there's a wine company I've come across (if you like wine) called Slim Line Wine. They have Keto friendly wine's, so I'll be ordering a bottle of Rose soon.

I take 2 Electrolyte Plus with water every morning, maybe my body is still trying to get used to eating this way :D

I still do Keto, I started in November 2016, by June 2017, I lost 5 stone, I did a strict version of it, my only fats for energy were cheese, butter, nuts and avocado.

It was really hard at for the first 3 months, suffered from sleepless nights and headaches.

I ate, fish, white meat and once a fortnight a big juicy steak.

I cut out bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, all fruit and certain vegetables.

One cup of tea a day and then only water.

I take multi vitamins, plus vitamin C & D.

I walked 5 miles a day as my daily exercise.

I have kept the weight off, still do Keto 5 days a week, the other 2 days days I have carbs but only a small amount and they are wholemeal apart from the potatoes.

I still walk five miles a day and feel good about myself.
That's amazing! Well done to the 5 stone weight loss!

The only thing I do eat is cauliflower rice and 3 strawberries, lettuce, cucumber and spinach, no pasta, potatoes, any nor any other fruit or vegetables.

I eat chicken and salmon, cheese and avocado.

I drink water, but not enough as I should and 1 coffee per day and I do exercise 3 times a week :)

3 Mozzarella cheese slices with a piece of salami on top of each and shared a Philadelphia soft cheese mini tub and rolled them up into 3 roll up cheese bites and half an avocado for breakfast
Nothing for lunch as I was full up from breakfast
Chicken, cauliflower rice, salad with parmesan cheese on top and Skinny Sauce BBQ Dip on the side
Finished on 12g Net Carbs

Morning all, I’ve just had my protein bread and had to report back, it’s great! Obviously it’s not a thick bloomer but i would say the closest thing I can Compare it to is German/rye bread, lots of seeds, the main thing is I could have my poached egg and didn’t feel like I was missing out 😁

Woood also recommend checking out the lowcarbandketobakery on Instagram 🤤

The sticks are effective for the first six weeks I find. After that your body uses the ketones so you are not urinating them.
I know I am in ketosis as I stick to below 20g of carbs so have to be. I never check my blood or breath as it's an expensive way to tell you something you already know.
We all know if we have cheated
Ahhh thank you for this info! Am taking a peek at my macros on “ my fitness pal” will defo keep a closer eye on the Carb grammage ( not a word)
Won’t buy any more sticks.
