She clearly has a lot of self confidence when it comes to her work too (something I find unique when it comes to creative people = they’re usually full of doubt or don’t rate their work) whereas she seems to think everything she creates is “so cute!” Finding it hard to find her genuine anymore tbh as she’s clearly putting on an act for camera

Where did this 'everyone takes August off' view come from. She's not the first vlogger to say this.

She's not a child at school or a teacher or a politician. People may take their two weeks holiday, but otherwise people still work. And in many areas you can't take any time off in August.

I used to really really love Catherine. But since her weight loss shes slowly becoming a completely different person. Shes also constantly changing studios & travelling every other week. I’m really really behind on her vlogs im at least over a year behind so I need to catch up lol but judging by the thumbnails & dipping in here and there I can see what’s going on.

This is probably an unpopular opinion but I hate that she blurs out peoples faces when she’s out and about especially when she’s travelling. I can see she’s doing it for privacy reasons but it just makes the videos seem a little dystopian to me and takes away from the experience. I know it’s something little but it makes a big difference actually seeing people in the background and their expressions but they are now just blurry heads with bodies. Shes the only vlogger I watch who does that to that extent.

I also wish she would stop showing Dean and stop asking him questions that require an answer because he’s the most miserable boring husband. I get that he’s maybe a bit shy but he must be used to his wife filming by now and he can at least look happy ffs.

I know so many people hate Catherine being sickly sweet but I love it. I feel like I can just switch off and watch something pink and cute I hope she never stops doing the “shall we” and the “hehehehe” I’m sorry but I really like it.

What annoys me most about dean is that he clearly is miserable as sin when the camera is on him but it’s that camera that pays for his trips and that he can be employed by his wife and spend as much time with her as he does.

you’d think he’d be able to manage a smile and act somewhat as enthusiastic as Catherine is. They’re going on trips and doing things they never could if they both had an average 9-5.

In her last studio vlog she announced that “my personal brand Catherine Kay is outperforming Katnipp” with a giggle. Like this was something to be celebrated. As I said upthread, it’s not a proper business and unless she stops pissing about and makes it a proper business she’ll lose it.

She said before that in her first year as a limited company (2015) she made £54k and paid herself £33k. No idea now.

Comparing herself to Beatrix Potter and Sanrio again, those are characters who are unique enough to sell stories.

Maybe she feels she’s got to do the food/treats/dessert/milky coffee thing in her vlogs because that’s what people want and expect to see. I’m sure many people would be interested to see what a person with a gastric bypass or just wanting to eat healthily while on holiday or at Disney could choose to eat as an alternative to the excesses we usually see.
And how come Dean isn’t clapping it on? Isn't he “overworking”? Seems to me him and Mike are doing the actual work at the studio while she fannies about organising shelves and buying pink lights.

Imagine going all that way just to stand in a snack shop and take photos of your ugly plushie lol. Also Tokyo Disneyland is not pinky pastel everywhere you look either. She needs to stop with the filter overlay.

Begs the question what she took them down in the first place for. Saying “I’ll put them back up if you like” is crazy because must have had a reason. Is that reason now void because one person has said something? Why not just answer honestly “I took them down because…”.

This is what gets me with these people. So disingenuous. Desperate to appear like they give a fuck about their subscribers when all they are interested in is clicks and patreon and how much £££ they can extract from people. I think that’s why she adopts the baby voiced, pastel pink, cuddly toy persona. To appear non-threatening while at the same time she’s rifling through your handbag for your credit card.

I think I’ve twigged what’s turning me off - her thing has stopped being about her a sweet lady talking about business/art and now all about HERSELF with the business/art consequential, as evidenced with the push to be a travel blogger and constant posing selfies and trying to make “sHaLl We” stick as a catchphrase.

I always give someone attention freely until they start demanding it.

I agree with you. I loved her in the beginning when she was in her tiny office. She was fun to watch, relatable. She would show her process and it was a great insight to how it is behind the scenes that I remember being genuinely excited for her when she got a little boom in sales or some fan mail that she opened on camera.

These days it's like... what awful idea is next in the line-up that she can get her fanboys/girls to buy. Somebody said in a comment before that she just makes things without properly thinking about it. It's because she doesn't need to, she has the fans who will buy it now. She is self-absorbed and comes out with the weirdest mantra crap in every video. She thinks she is a creator goddess who knows it all and must put out these 'professional' status videos. Where as before, she came across as if she was no better than you or me, just a lovely lady who wanted to create and share her business journey. Every video now we get the same introduction of who she is and what business she has. She's creating for the few new potential viewers who click on her channel, rather than those who have been around for years interested in her and her business.

And probably the biggest thing that annoys me more than the photo filters, is how she purposely looks away on photos as if to pretend they were natural snapshots. Natural photos are lovely, but posing to look natural wtf it looks stupid.

Also, I just have to say, I have always thought the logo for Katnipp was a fish. It took me years to realize it's just her head/hair, not fins.

Had to look up her logo again because of this, it does look like a fish!
