I don’t understand drop, I just wear bog standard NB 1080 day to day runners. What’s the fuss/issue/situation?
drop is the distance between the front and the back, minimal shoes will have around 0, more "stable" ones around 10-12. The carbon shoes normally have something in the middle range
He meant the full thing is 50mm, is that legal for UKA rules? I remember they put a limit.

As FPbase said but to add more. Traditionally shoes were all around the 12mm from heel to the toe in drop. Over time the revolution and change in the way shoes are now developed means that most have gone down to a 5-6mm drop as an average and anything 8-12mm is classed in the higher side. The higher drop still has its uses as it’s more beneficial for people who are heavy heel strikers and those with poor achilles/ankle/calf mobility, it then shifts its focus to the hips and knee's. Some science has even shown that really soft midsole shoes with let’s say a 6mm drop are actually even lower if the person is heavy set or a heel striker because the shoe is that soft it causes less consistency and stability.

40mm is the legal limit for semi elite and elites but for a random 3 or 6hrs marathoner it won’t matter as you’re never going to win it. Many training shoes are around the 40-50mm now to aid recovery and fatigue

There should be a disqualification for something like that. He just stops, looks down and turns in front of others. Why not pull to the side to get out the way and then look for your stupid camera. Could have caused chaos
