One of the early theories (and there were SO MANY wild theories being thrown around on FB) was that Jay was stuck to a cactus.

These threads were hilarious - just baffled at what was being sprouted on facebook and Tiktok.

What? They thought he had fallen off a cliff or something onto a cactus? And was just languishing there waiting to be plucked off

Oh yes! And, that's not one of the more ridiculous things that was posted as a theory.
You can understand why it was a wild and hilarious ride that summer

Just to note. No one here ever suggested the real circumstances were funny, it was the FB group contributors that were 'special'.

Sometimes I go back & re read the glory days of the first few threads, they still crack me up. Poor Cristiano Ronaldo getting mass tagged to put his hand in his pocket to help save him, the two girls who thought drug dealers give receipts and of course the woman in an electric wheelchair who was fully prepared to fly herself & her dog out to help with the search. And that’s before all the mental theories began.

It's pretty light hearted here, nobody is glad he died, it's just that there was a comic aspect to it

Some of the posters that initially came to the thread to say how in bad taste the thread was ended up staying so that says a lot .

I'm going to the States in a couple of weeks - on one of my last trips I spent some considerable flight time reading through the Christian Horner sexts - this time I think I might re-read the Jay Slater legacy
