Watching it now and was just thinking this myself. This part isn’t necessary
Yeah i don’t think the graphic of his caved in skull on the autopsy technician’s computer was either.
I wonder how much was pitched to his parents as needed to stop the conspiracy theories around Jay’s death?

Gutted there was no mention of the cactus or eagle, nothing about a trail of haribos up the mountain either.

Perhaps his dad could console himself by having his clothes made in to a chair Captain Tom style, use the shoes for legs, after all Debs has that lovely beemer to cheer herself up with.

It wouldn’t surprise me if they were pressured by C4 to go that dark on it all (presumably C4 drone filmed overheads of the funeral and inside the service?) and they were a bit misguided [because not the sharpest tools] and they just want to stop the conspiracy stuff.

Just watched this. He seemed like a carefree 19 year old lad, seems quite likeable, enjoying his life but unfortunately decisions that night cost him his life. I’ve been in Tenerife and it’s wild with drugs and dodgy looking characters. In fact, I actually witnessed a serious car accident which turned into a hit & run due to drugs 🙄 I don’t think I’d want my 16 year old going there.
I do feel for the family, especially as he was a very much wanted child ( ivf)
Something really didn’t sit right with me was filming the pathlogy and the funeral. Just why?
I do get it was a media circus and too many arm chair dectectives. Remember Nicola Bulley?
Fair play to Debbie trying to do something regarding the socials but it’s losing a battle. It won’t be long until there’s another high profile missing person and queue the tik tok detectives.

That’s gonna be the only thing to make it stop , another conspiracy theory of a death for the tik toks

When you think about all the sick kids suffering out there and parents struggling to buy food for their families and all the misery…

but fkn Sandra down the road is giving money for the body of a wee drug dealer.

I suspect the family did the documentary because of the mental stories going around about Jay and this was their way of combatting it.

I thought they came across well to be honest, as did his friends; particularly Lucy who did her best to help him.

Perhaps the message he drafted was dictated. It's really horrible to think how frightened he must have been and the autopsy stuff was brutal, but perhaps it makes his death real to people.

It was nice to learn more about him other than second/third/fourth hand gossip. I hope it helped his family and I fully support his mum's campaign to stop the crap of TikTok et al.

Unfortunately I know people who have 2 kids and one is clearly the favourite and it seemed like that with Jay.
In fairness, he was the son who'd died. You tend to make a big thing about the child you have lost; but that doesn't mean she loved him more, or anything.

Jay didn't deserve to die in these circumstances, to me this thread was always more about the absolute hysteria that blew up around his disappearance and some of the utterly unhinged takes from people on social media.

Of course there were valid questions about rhe GoFundMe etc but I do think it's fair the family want TikTok ghouls like DownTheRapids to stop farming likes off Jay's name, and I can't blame them for desperately taking pretend 'experts' at face value when they appear offering 'help'.

Yes; there was so much insanity going around about him that it didn't feel real. It made me reflect on my own posts on the threads, and am relieved (!) that they were pretty measured as it is very easy to get carried away. I was pretty convinced he would turn up after a few weeks, sunburned and hungover and laughing at all the fuss. He had the misfortune to go missing shortly after Dr Michael Moseley as well, which is like going missing after Jesus really: nobody is going to match up.

As I've said before, no I wasn't able to post them but did read it from the start. I don't recall anyone on this thread being insensitive to the fact Jay passed the way he did. Many people said they hoped he would be found and when it came out what happened, people were sad and sorry about it and said he didn't deserve that.

It was just the ridiculousness around the events that made the thread funny. The stupidity of the comments being made on Facebook, like him potentially being stuck on a cactus for example . Suggestions like playing his favourite music to lure him out... bloody down the rapids going over acting like a search ambassador. (Remember when he got stroppy at the search team and said they weren't doing enough and ended up leaving the search early and the guy was like wtf 😂.)

I think questions were raised around some things, which would have happened about anyone else, like the gofundme etc. This thread really did make me laugh and still has since, but at no point there has been no ill will towards Jay and what happened to him. It's been very respectful in that sense. He was a kid who made some poor decisions and ended up losing his life as a result.

It's sad it's happened and I feel for the family. I just feel people like DARREN ADMIN and the countless others helped make light with their stupid responses, of what was a horrible situation.

Salad.

I think a lot of us really thought Jay would turn up because of all the crazy rumours and noise about it . I’ve just watched the documentary and it was really sad but I think this thread was never about Jay himself just about the cast of characters who attached themselves to it .

Kardamena that is the place to be! benidorm wtaf never again and thats only because ive had the worst 18 months we didn't want to be at home and after catching up with mafs and bb i decided to watch 🙃. Its an unfortunate ending with so many questions the biggest of all is what happened to the gfm?

It felt like they wanted to put the conspiracies to rest by showing the things they did and talking about what they did more than anything.
It really seemed to push the aspect that social media hindered finding him and was going for the fact they were punishing the family but if they had genuinely thought he had been taken for ransom everything would have been behind closed doors. No gfm no media let's just do our best for our son. At the end of the day he was an adult out there for a good time. Enjoy the festival have fun and keep yourself to yourself. Why would you go off with strangers? Stay in a crowd stay around people and your safe 🤔

I wish they'd interviewed Lucy and Brad for the programme, so we could have heard why Lucy immediately started the GoFundme when Jay went missing
They couldn't be arsed to attend court so im very much doubtful they even cared about him. It all very much seems business as usual we'll be in tenerife such and such a date. We've got a job to do and our heads are on the line if we don't. It seems very much controlled by the hierarchy and they don't have much choice. In this day and age think county lines but abroad these kids have no chance at home and are selected due to vulnerability.
