I feel like at this point, by her not understanding how much he won't resemble her son at this point is a sign of being stuck in the denial stage. I think they had so much false hope/misinformation that he was taken somewhere or had somehow managed to survive and they can't get past that? We've no idea who Debbie is or what she's going through. I can find her money seeking repugnant but I can't judge her for wanting to see him. She's maybe never seen a body/ creature 3 weeks dead and exposed and she has no idea what she's asking for.
TW: death & suicide:
Having been to a funeral today, where I watched a heartbroken Dad, try to hold it together while speaking for his son... Everyone was in bits.
We could all feel his pain that he was feeling and sharing in that moment. His final goodbye to one of his babies. Awful stuff. I just can't imagine the pain.
And this was death by suicide, after struggling privately for years with mental health.
Not a missing person who made risky choices, alone in an unfamiliar place and went viral for it.

I feel that Jay's family have been surrounded by so many people, giving them false hope and not feeling like they have had support from the Spanish police or whatever went on...
They are going to keep looking for someone to blame and hold onto that denial, especially if everyone online keeps looking at his final moments in the same disbelief alongside conspiracies.
I'm just not sure why it hadn't clicked that if he hadn't been found after X amount of time, he was most likely deceased. Maybe that's the morbid/matter of fact side of me though.
I agree, @NotAgain? I'd probably be out of my mind with grief and have to see them one last time (since I brought them into the world and couldn't bare the thought of them being alone... but also being raised with Irish style funerals). I understand it would be damaging but I'd probably already be so ducked up for the rest of my life so wouldn't care at that time.
The police trying to save her the pain and damage of saying he isn't suitable for viewing, so she can preserve the memory she has of him, only adds fuel to the fire of some sort of conspiracy for them that they are hiding something etc. Catch-22, I guess.
