Do any of you lovely lot think Jason feels embarrassed and ashamed at being exposed as a lying fantasist? Or is he so deluded he thinks anyone criticising him is being racist and disablist? And that underneath the scornful and derisory comments, there’s a hardcore fandom who think he’s absolutely amazing?

People like him are incapable of shame. This whole thing will be everyone else's fault, and tbe world is racist for even questioning him.

I very much doubt he will feel any shame or embarrassment at all, and not even any guilt about all the students who were cheated out of proper teaching or other people better qualified to do the jobs he was given due to his lies.

Although I expect much of the US would embrace him at first, I expect US academia would not, he would face many African American students, professors etc would absolutely know their stuff and laugh his waffle out the room.

I do hope he takes his pity party on the road, because the best thing to expose lies are a huge dose of sunlight.

Yeah I'm 50/50 about how his shtick would go down in the USA.

Race is a bigger deal over there, and "wokeness" is more prevalent in everything.

But as you suggest, real blackademics and intellectuals are also very aware of the impact that the elevated DEI purse puppies have on the way they're viewed, and they don't take kindly to the idiots who taint the way they're viewed.

Thanks to people like Arday, it raises the question of all their legitimacy.

I also think given that ‘college’ costs so much in the US, they’d be a lot less tolerant of his vague waffley rit

Fear not, ye UK-and-Ireland-dwellers! Ol’ Jase thanks his anglicizer in the acknowledgements, so hopefully you SHAN’T be getting any thrift stores or Tblisi Church Suppers and the like in the version that hits your fair shores, or any of the other ghastly Americanisms in this absolute banger of a Yankee Doodle Dandy edition.

Mind you, he also thanks “The Best Editor in The World”, the person who “sharpened the telling of his story” and all his ‘friends’ who work in the shop that flog him all his overpriced suits, so it’s hard to know what you should expect really.
Hopefully The Great And Unfortunate Things Playlist (of page 271 fame) survives the transatlantic journey, that’s all I can say. 🎶🎶🤞🙏🇺🇸🌊🇮🇪🇬🇧 How else will all you crazy kids know who Jase wants you to rock out to otherwise?

Hang on a minute: he thanks an editor at S&S for taking a chance on "a complete unknown" but we just been through pages and pages (and pages and pages and pages) of entire battalions of random people bowing down to him in the streets, clapping and cheering as he makes his humble way through the day, and going out of their way to catch a glimpse of his mystical being. So, as wise ol' Oprah would say: what is the truth? The Messiah or a very naughty [unknown] boy? 🕵️‍♀️

"Hey Jase, you're doing so well here, you need a new challenge. Why not apply for XYZ?"
“Hey Jase, we’ve realised you’re full of tit and we want rid of you. Why not apply for XYZ? They’re bound to fall for your crap and hire you! After all, we did!”

Does Jase mention the time he stood as a Labour candidate in Croydon council elections In his autobiography? He wasn’t elected

The majority of the students were white working class and they were fascinated by him as they had likely never been taught by a black person before. He learned all their names and facts about them like what cereals they liked, their middle names etc and would pepper these through any conversations he had with them.
Because virtually everything he says is nonsensical bollox it’s easy to gloss over the finer points and practicalities of some of it. How on earth would this even work?
He’s meant to be giving a lecture to these good-hearted simple-souled PE students on, I dunno, VO2 max, which he’s doing by pontificating at great length on a scene from Rocky IV and The Marvelous Music of The Northwest (TM)’s The Verve’s (Richard Ashcroft’s Band)’s Bittersweet Symphony.

An awed-and-inspired white working class student shyly pipes up asking the exotic creature before her for clarification on calculating VO2 max, to which Jase responds “Why thank you Sarah Elaine, for asking I, Jason Arday, that question. As my mother Giff always says, it is like watching my mother Giff’s mother, (my gran)’s enormous pillar candle burning itself out between Christmas and New Year. And how were your Frosties this morning? Anyway, enough about you. Let’s listen to Orinoco Flow while I inspire you all with more fascinating true stories about me and my fascinating true life. Did you know I still have the towel the snooker cue manufacturers gave me back when I was a teen football and snooker prodigy who had very recently learned to speak in complete inspirational sentences and (also inspirational) bon mots but still couldn’t read or write and used to bunk off school for 6 hours a day every day without anyone knowing to go to Riley’s Clapham (by getting on the number 77 bus outside my school and getting off the number 77 bus outside Riley’s Clapham)?”

Then they all clap and cheer and resolve that thanks to the inspiring presence and words of he, Jason Arday, never will they phone up the Liverpool police when they see a Black man entering a Liverpool house using his Liverpool front door key. If indeed they should ever in their lifetime bear witness such a curious and rare-r than Halley’s Comet event.

Jason exits stage right to catch his daily National Express coach from Liverpool One Bus Station (Canning Place) back to London Victoria Coach Station and from there walking to Victoria Station, getting on the Victoria Line train to Stockwell, getting off the Victoria Line train at Stockwell, changing to the Northern Line at Stockwell and catching a Northern Line train from Stockwell to Clapham South.

lol I’ve already got one. Or more than one, if we’re going by Ol’ Giff’s degree counts. I didn’t have to pretend to be in a coma at my PhD viva either.

Ah, those jolly halcyon recollections of happy days sat in the lecture theatres of yesteryore, where all the mature student mothers (like extremely learned Giff to whom education was extremely important) would bring along their cheery sixteen year-old children and a lovely ol’ Enid Blytonesque midnight feast with lashings of ginger beer picnic.

Why was everyone eating chicken and dumplings in the middle of a lecture (while "washing it down with water")? Can they not wait till lunch? So weird. If it even happened.

Looks like Anglia Ruskin may need to do yet more editing on the blurb when they gave him an Honorary Doctorate. They’ve already been forced to edit his 600 miles in 6 days claim.

There were single parents on my degree, masters and PGCE courses. Not a single one of them ever brought their children to a lecture, let alone a picnic.

I'm pretty sure eating during lectures was frowned upon when I was at uni, let alone bringing your children and encouraging everyone to tuck in. Maybe after the lecture it would have been a nice social event to share food and chat, but not during the lecture. Mind you, I'm a white girl from Wales, so what do I know?
