You're right @Saltfish84 the original line was Moaner Fleecer but I got confused with the posts where it was nominated for thread title misquoting it. My apologies to Liv and the canal at large. Obviously none of this is actually my fault as I have a terrible case of bad mentals and have just fallen down the stairs three times. If you evil ableist trolls like I could perhaps STOP BREATHING?

The other thing suspect about her claimed addiction/recovery is not only did she go cold turkey no problems, but one week sober and she was toot-tooting her best life in the guardian. Even if you came out of cold turkey relatively unscathed, which does happen - albeit unlikely on her claimed amounts - no way would you be writing articles about all the energy you have, recipe writing, housework you've been doing etc after 1 poxy week. Your sleep would only just be starting to regulate for one, it's usual to not be able to sleep at first when the booze is taken away. Appetite would be tentatively returning. Energy levels will take longer to come back, due to the sleep/appetite needing to normalise first. You'd probably be just coming out of the very shitty, anxiety ridden first days. I know withdrawals are different for each individual but one thing is common for heavy drinkers - the first week is a rollercoaster through hell and back. None of her toot toot article reads true, because it isn't. Big pack of shitty lies for attention and deflection, nothing more.
The other thing about early recovery is how much you just don't want anyone to know you're in AA. It takes a long time to self-normalise.

And anyone - _anyone_ - at her home group would be like "why on earth are you leaping so far ahead in this article?"

I honestly can't conceive of doing anything beyond dragging myself to meetings and wondering if I was actually just having a very vivid dream the first week of sobriety.

If it was three/four weeks, OK, maybe someone is in the pink elephant stage and toot-tooting with newfound sober euphoria. But one week? Bullshit.

Check out Mike Tyson when he was 8 days sober and broke down at a press conference. That's an actual addict, and he was not toot-tooting, he was terrified and in the depths of despair.

The arrogance of Guest to co-opt the identity of addict. It's so messed up.

Recovery isn't about "bravery" it's about surrender.

What a productive first week of sobriety she had!!

"At the time of writing this, I have been sober for exactly a week. The change has been remarkable. My house is tidier than it has ever been. I have reclaimed my evenings, and my early mornings, free from mental fog and headaches and grumps. My creativity has kicked back into action: in a bid to keep busy, I wrote, created, tested and photographed 50 new recipes last week – that’s half a book!"

The BBC One announcer just said “And now it’s time for Saturday Kitchen with Matt Tebbutt and guest” and I got all excited for a minute.

Thread title by @Livia Fantasy nominated by several frauen. You win some suspicious year-old pickled radishes, I know how much you love them.

In the last thread two ninnies braved guest's keynote speech at the Fringe and reported back that she told lots of lies including but not limited to the Venetian Blinds Index. Quelle surprise. We can expect the memoir and an authentic Greek cookbook some time in 2050. We eagerly await the talk being uploaded by Graham.

When nominating a thread title use the words 'thread title' and remember: no swearing. Wiki is the pink button up top, give it a read if you're new.

Sobriety Jack was the 1st time I took a long look at her.
I have worked in drug and alcohol misuse service for some years and when I saw her "story" I felt something was very off about it.
She seemed to have managed to hold her lucrative life. There wasn't really any of the substantial damage that I would expect from that level of user. It she's hit rock bottom, then what did that look like?
as she told it her alcoholism seemed not much more than a hiccup. The period of time involved versus what she was taking sounded more likely to kill her than just get off her tits and the "easy breezy" recovery looked off kilter too.
The photo of her supping on a mug of tea on her kitchen counter to me, looked like how somme people think recovery is. More like a day or so after a massacre of a weekend but nothing a bacon sarnie won't put right.
It was from that point on she really startrd fucking annoying me. I thought sje was going to be Guardian Poster Poor Girl for a while and thered be np more to it. But there she was, so pleased with her paper thin addiction to recovery jump and her she was with a bit of a twinkle in her eye and part of me thought "Oh, you're in for a second bite of the apple, you wagon".

14 pages behind, owing to having a life (Jack could never). The more you reflect on that Guardian article about her being an alcoholic and how at 7days she’s focussed on work, sleeping better etc, the more truly unbelievable and irresponsible it was to publish.
The NHS website talks about how to withdraw safely if you have been drinking >20 units per day; Jack’s bottle and a half of whiskey per day is more than doubly that. She claims she just stopped.
And after a week, her skin was looking better, she’s glowing etc etc.
If her claim was true, she wouldn’t even be out of the withdrawal stage yet, surely?

We all know how much of a liar she is, but the Guardian should NEVER have published this. It’s so damaging to others with an alcohol addiction.

Jessica Fox if they want someone with dead eyes who can overact a tantrum.
Failing that, Alice Evans just for the lols it would cause here.
Well, we all know who @MancBee would cast as Jack Monroe in Jack Monroe: My Slop Called Life

Turns out he has more than looks in common with Southend’s 27th-Best Lesbian too. They apparently share a common interest as well

Fucking love beans on toast.

I fucking HATE guset’s patronising “this MUST be how the povvo poors live and eat” vibe. Her insufferable attitude and portrayal of those who are struggling. They’re not living in a fucking dustbin, rattling around trying to find a razor blade to slash open a stolen tin of sardines and wondering what to have it with, watching TV through the windows at Dixons and huddling round a pet rock they’ve been keeping warm by sitting on it. If so, they’re certainly not rushing out to read her blog or spend £20 on a book telling you to boil this or blend that.

With some awful exceptions where people truly are in the shit, the vast majority are people like you and I who are getting through, sometimes just by kicking the debt can down the road, who have… a roof, utensils, access to a shop, and utilities. Money’s fucking tight, so GOOD recipes of “have you tried adding a dash of XYZ to these cheap things” rather than her “just fucking bung these four small meals together and make one inedible slop that’ll go off in a day” style.

Where’s the useful budgeting stuff like “get a chicken, some of this, some of that… and you can make X on Monday, Y on Tuesday, Z on Wednesday, and if any leftovers there’s a soup, sandwich etc for a snack”. She knows nothing of budgeting because she’s never had to fucking do it, has never encountered it, is a fucking Tory cuntbag who has such DISDAIN for her audience because she thinks she’s above us all despite never once proving any modicum of talent, potential, honesty, or personality, and never being shy about her desire to take her place in higher social circles living her smol pixie princess life, the absolute sneering honking pigfaced cunt.

Dear Jack,

Fuck off. I hope you forever have wet socks.

Trust me, don’t read this with a hangover. Leaping, galloping & hugging for ‘several minutes’-Jesus Christ, the absolute wankiness and embarrassment of it. Earnest, gullible knobs.
ETA-even worse actually. Embracing. Ffs, get a grip wonky.

I wonder how the Greeks will receive guest's book of authentic greek cuisine?
I don't suppose they've ever bothered to compile one of their own.
That prolific Eastern European cookbook author Georgia Church-Suppers has completed it, mate. And it’s an ABSOLUTE BANGER.
