Although Jack claims lots of marginalised identities - disabled, mental health issues, working-class, lesbian, transgender/nonbinary - she never seems concerned about raising awareness of issues specific to those communities. When was the last time Jack went to a march for trans rights, for example? Has she highlighted any blogs by trans writers? Has she ever socialised with trans people?
In the early days when she first came out she did post a bunch of selfies from either the DIVA or Proud (?) awards - some LGBT glitzy night anyway - with people like Hannah Graf (née Winterbourne) and her husband Harry, and Fox Fisher, and a few other famous trans names from the period. The caption implied they were all super close and between them (including Jack) had all done incredible things for trans rights...
This was maybe less than a year after Jack came out, and I'm not sure her gender bending photoshoot in the guardian quite ranks up there with Hannah Graf's experience of coming out as a serving Army officer and then living as a military LGBT role model. (I have many side eyes for Harry Graf and Fox Fisher for other reasons, and some for Hannah too but she had a hard path and lived it with grace.)
Also Jack "volunteered" (once) with a small LGBT charity a friend of mine worked at. Jack basically came in as a role model for one session with some school kids specifically to talk about her life as a trans person. My friend was totally starstruck but it never sat well with me that Jack was presented as this trailblazer when she had only come out a few months previously in what was actually a much safer media environment than ever, talked over trans people with more lived experience of it than her, and still got all the attention.
I don't see a trailblazer, I see a bandwagon-hopper.
If anyone's interested I have some free time coming up, I might get Mrs Goose (her with the Actual Lived Experience) to help me do more of a deep dive into Jack's gender stuff. It feels like it's a bit of a gap in the story of her grift, because people are wary of criticising her identity. (because, tbf, the pile on you get for questioning someone who IDs as trans is alarming, and it's that dog pile mentality that's allowed a huge number of grifters to jump under the flag)
