I'd suggest her manner 'poor manners in social media' are of a higher standard than many who post on this thread.
I never thought I’d get a chance to say this here but... maybe you could go to the “Rave About” section and start a Jack Monroe thread there?I'd not say that. A lot of people new to camping can't cook so a good book like hers is a great starting point for eating well when camping or in a caravan for that matter.
Her book Cooking on a Bootstrap is a good start for people on a tight budget and lets be honest there enough people struggling with money these days and it shows there's more to life than frozen pizza and chips.
If you can’t find a logical reason to dislike them it’s perhaps unwise to pop up on their one hundred and eighty seventh thread to defend them without looking into why we do.I don't drive a taxi, I'm a hydraulics specialist on off shore platforms which means that although I'm a very good cook I can also afford to dine out (covid allowing) in rather good eateries. I just thought her books were good for people on a budget and with limited cooking skills. I do encourage people to learn to cook with fresh ingredients and move on from take aways and other junk food, preparing a good meal is a great experience.
I'm not a fan of hers but can't find a logical reason the dislike her either.
Kippers and poached eggs for breakfast and I'm making challah bread
That’s fair enough - can I ask if you’ve ever tried any of her recipes? And enjoyed them? Do you follow her on Twitter? That’s good for you if you’re a good cook and can afford fine dining, but so many people who buy her books are led to believe they’re buying a book filled with workable recipes.I don't drive a taxi, I'm a hydraulics specialist on off shore platforms which means that although I'm a very good cook I can also afford to dine out (covid allowing) in rather good eateries. Might you drive a taxi, perchance? The recipes work if you follow them. I only looked at them after my brother got the Tin Can book to find new recipe ideas for the Scout Troop he leads and many of the new ideas have gone down well and a real bonus is it was her who led to the demise of Katie Hopkins.
Might knock up a corned beef stew tomorrow, not eaten that in a long time.
There is no try, there is only do.I don't follow her on Twitter, only looked at her recipes which will work I think but certainly are a starting point for people with no cooking skills and certainly no worse than some of the food Jamie Oliver promotes (I ate at two of his outlets and the food was poor).
I'd not say she lives a privileged life though, she's no multi millionaire and I'd suggest her manner 'poor manners in social media' are of a higher standard than many who post on this thread.
If nothing else my original post gave her a few hours off from Tattle, shifted direct focus away LOL
I'll leave you lot in peace now so keep safe and try and enjoy life
