Making a distinction between gender dysphoria and mental illness is gaslighting and it’s insidious. And you know it.
So you did put words in my mouth. I legitimately don't know how to categorize it, which was why I was asking my questions and asking to be educated on the topic. This isn't taught in my country at all and in a lot of others, maybe you should think about that before being rude. So instead of trying to educate myself so that I can have a properly formed opinion and not be blindly hateful like the majority of my peers, I'm supposed to stay ignorant or blindly follow the pack or else I'm hatefull or something?

To be fair I think the gender debate can do without the support of a creepy man who included a pages-long underage orgy scene in one of his most famous novels. Because six lads banging one girl is obviously the only way to rid the world of a killer clown 😑.
Excellent point!

I find her inclusivity in her writing can feel quite tokenist. Like saying Dumbledore is gay, but never mentioning it in the books, just vaguely alluding to something with Grindelwald that could easily just have been have been a best friend relationship, which is how the books really portray it.

The presence of black/Asian characters is extremely limited again, twin Indian characters, a Chinese character. Three characters that had limited depth as characters.

Ive felt in recent years she has tried to retrospectively add inclusivity into Harry potter. She tries to come across as very progressive and inclusive, but whether it is ignorance/limited understanding or acceptance of issues it all seems to land wrong when she says anything these days.

She'd save herself a lot of aggravation by just shutting up and just writing her stories. That's not to say she can't have an opinion, she is of course entitled to hold whatever opinion she wants, whether I agree or not. It's just why bother with the aggravation.

You can have a chaperone for a procedure regardless of the gender of the clinician. You can also stop a procedure at any point if you are uncomfortable, request a different chaperone etc. The reason they have this is as much to protect you as it is the hospital in question. But most people in the medical profession just want to do their job, get paid and go home- regardless of orientation, gender etc.

I think you've missed the point. My point is when you have a female doctor or nurse you are not asked.
When you have a male doctor or nurse you are asked if you want a chaperone.

So what can the hospital or doctor surgeries do? If they ask a patient if they would like another female in the room are they transphobic?

This better make the front pages of all the newspapers tomorrow (not expecting anything from the Guardian though, of course). Let’s see what KS makes of it all and the action he takes.

Thread is being locked for now, a lot of people are raising concerns about how the conversation is going,
and as it doesn’t seem to be about JK Rowling at all right now let’s take a breather!

admin will post and reopen soon.
Thank you.

Here one of our malls has a choice of female, male, and unisex bathrooms so it can work.
That's exactly what would work.

I personally have nothing against trans people using the bathroom of the gender they identify as, but I don't find a unisex bathroom an oppressive option like some seem to think it is. It's not always as simple either, like I've said previously my son looks like a boy,, but if you look at him for longer than a quick glance, it's fairly recognisable that he's trans, especially if he talks, as he's had no medication and not started the transition medically at all. So he's had funny looks in both the male and female bathroom when he's used either, so as much he'd love to use the mens, he's happy to opt for a unisex so he's not scrutinised either. He's just more comfortable that way.

The trans lobby are trying their best to stop detransitioners speaking out like this.
In fact, the subreddit r/detrans was recently banned as well as all of the other subs I was a member of where we could speak about these issues: r/truelesbians, r/LGBdroptheT, r/GenderCritical r/itsafetish, etc. This was under the guise of reddit banning "hate speech".

This is cancel culture, creating a climate whereby people can't come together to discuss these matters (as we are doing right now). They think that by removing our platforms we will have no choice but to sit down and shut up, but I'm going to keep standing up and speaking out anywhere I can.

Numerous people resigned from the Tavistock Clinic because of its dodgy practices. Here's one account: https://quillette.com/2020/01/17/wh...-need-therapy-not-just-affirmation-and-drugs/

One of my biggest concerns personally is young gender non-conforming lesbians being pushed into transitioning, and the peer pressure these young girls are experiencing. This thread is really interesting regarding school age detransitioners: https://tattle.life/threads/19920/

I'm also very concerned for youngsters who have (possibly undiagnosed) ASD and are experiencing gender dysphoria being encouraged to transition without the ASD aspect being explored at all:
This is interesting, regarding Reddit. Especially in view of the fact you can sign up to the site as a 13 year old and there remains a large contingent of abuse porn/ rape porn / underage porn subreddits (even some of the names of these are disgusting), some hidden, some not. It's only female subreddits who question it that get banned.

The fact that Tyson Fury has even “written books” makes me despair of the publishing industry.

As someone with a sibling who recently came out to me as trans, it calms me to know that there are loving parents out there like you who have navigated it so wonderfully and created safe, loving environments. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for being the kind of parent the trans youth needs. It honestly means a lot.
Just doing my job as Mum ❤❤

Thanks @Buzzbee ! Good to know the NHS apologised, but I do remember a lot of anger directed at the woman on social media. Very unfair.
Yes, I remember too. I think Facebook is where I first read about it. A lot of arguments were had in the comments about it and a lot of namecalling too, not unlike the kind that JKR has received recently.

Theres an issue with some in the trans lobby saying gay people arent gay they are trans. Although transwomen still try and shag women so they are allowed to be lesbians apparently.
Yes it’s all very strange. I also read someone say that gay men only settled for being gay because they failed at being trans. Like, what?

Who would be covering up crime stats and why, do you think? I know we have a good degree of accountability with FOIA so it would be a pretty high reaching conspiracy for any combination of agencies to fix the figures - and I can’t understand why they would need to? The numbers wouldn’t be high enough to be an international scandal surely - we can’t be talking about thousands of murders being hidden can we!

So before the Covid19 lockdown I visited the vagina museum. Below is a screenshot of a notice in the museum. I wasn't wholly on board with this.

God yeah, when I think of all the real issues we could tackle and change to make a better world. Let women be women. Let trans have their own Bog and let's stop wasting time on the latest fashionable celeb driven nonsense.
I think with covid we may end up moving to more self contained cubicles with sinks/ dryers etc so that may solve that problem. It wont shut them up though. The late transitioning formerly straight male white Mtf trans lobby wont do anything to alienate their white, middle aged straight Male buddies by telling them they should be having sex with trans women or telling them to stop beating up trans women so they will have to carry on bullying women, Lesbians and gay men
