I’m still catching up with Chamber of Secrets. Madam Pomfrey is bloody awful. I know I’m going over old ground here and it’s already been discussed, but ugh! So badly acted/delivered and that’s without factoring in it being obviously a man!!
Its a strange choice I agree, very poor performance.

I've been listening to POA and am enjoying that so far. On reflection Dumbledore is very remiss towards Harry throughout the entire series. There's loads of instances where he lets Harry wander into danger and doesn't explain things properly.
In POA they are doing a quidditch match in a thunderstorm and the dementors invade the pitch. The teachers don't appear to take the safety of their students very seriously at all 😃
I know it's to enhance the drama of the story telling but Hogwarts is a pretty dangerous school all round.
you know they're failing ofsted on safeguarding

He's wealthy enough and talented enough to weather this storm.

Stop snivelling, John - and read what she actually said.

If he drops out maybe we could get Hugh Laurie to take his place. At least there'd be consistency with the series having two Dumbledores like the movies!

From that article, someone who worked with Lithgow said , about his working on the TV series: “there’s an element of this that feels vaguely hurtful.”

Get a grip! Jesus suffering Christ, get a bleeping GRIP of yourself. What does this even mean? “Vaguely hurtful”, oh well then, let’s definitely get going on another round of Everything Is JK Rowling’s Fault, we can’t have anything vaguely hurtful happening.

I wish Lithgow would bleeping quit. He’s too old, I would rather a British actor got the job, and if he had any moral fibre at all and genuinely believed what he says he does, he should quit and not just snipe at Rowling while coining it in on her IP.

I agree he’d be better leaving now while they have the chance to re record. Contrast with Keira Knightley’s brilliant response.

Here we go again...
Haha, every time celebs do this, I think of Superhans in Peep Show: 'For me, this is nearly a resigning matter!'
Surely 80 is too old for such craven dramatics? (Can't imagine the pro-trans folx loved the very obvious 'But my google alerts!' focus either, rather than Leaving for the Right Reasons.)

I’m so glad I refound this thread! I’ve really been enjoying the new audio versions - I absolutely LOVE Stephen Fry’s version but certain moments of the books have stood out that I missed before (the biscuit thing for example).

I really enjoyed the strike series too - I binged listening to them last year.

I'm with you on this and he's too old for the job. Get a younger actor and age them up, someone in their 60s would be a much better idea.

It should be a requirement in the actors contracts that anyone who signs on to work on the series just shuts the duck up about JK Rowling and the trans stuff. They can think what they like in private but in my view it's a bit like accepting a job at a company and then slagging the company off on social media. If you do that in the real world you're likely to get the sack. Why should these privileged people be any different 🤔

I love how Keira Knightley and Matthew MacFayden and Hugh Laurie are able to keep their mouths shut while accepting the audiobook job but the TV actors seem incapable of keeping their mouths shut. Take the job or don't. But shut up.

I'm behind some of you and am listening to the Goblet of Fire. It was a bit strange getting used to the new trio at first but I like them now, particularly Hermione. I didn't like Hermione at all in the films because I found Emma Watson so annoying but the new actress has won me round.
James McAvoy is very good as Mad Eye Moody and I absolutely adore Winky the house elf 🥰 where did they find someone so brilliant!

I’ve just seen the trailer for the tv show - love the fact they have “Based on the beloved books by J K Rowling’ in big letters on the screen.

I was impressed with the look of it all - pretty sure I’ll be paying to watch it at Xmas!

This makes me so happy to see Jo rightly being name checked in the trailer as every other Potter related thing these days try and act like she doesn’t exist. So happy !

I was just watching the trailer too, it looks really good! I did mutter “oh, duck off, Lithgow ya hypocrite” when he appeared, but other than that, I am excited to see it.

I'm so psyched, the trailer is amazing!! I can't believe we'll have it by Christmas, that's so soon 🤩 Hagrid making snow angels is my favourite bit ❤

Small grump, I know I'm out of touch, but I don't like the publicity photo where Arabella Staunton is wearing a dress with a cut out back. Not for kids.

No you aren’t alone - my thoughts exactly. Starting the sexualisation early, but only for the girl funnily enough.

Reading some of the articles about the trailer, many are definitely written by people who haven’t read the books. Talking about similarities with the films and mentioning new parts - which are based on JK Rowlings descriptions of the people/world and things that were in the books.

I feel so lucky to have experienced the book releases, then the films, and next the tv show. It’s amazing that one woman has built all this from a story she wrote.
