I wonder if this played a huge part in Jo giving the go ahead for HBO / Warner Bros to make the tv series to get new faces playing her beloved characters given how tarnished the original movies might be now for her with Dan and Emma very publicly throwing more petrol on the fire and then seeing their faces on every single piece of Potter merchandise etc ?.

And the new audio books too! There will now be three actors associated with every part (except Hermione which will be 2-1 to Arabella)

I’m not sure she’d be motivated by spite tbh. It’s more that it’s been a long time since the movies, and the opportunity is there to give the books a fresh new (better, hopefully) treatment with the TV series and the audiobooks. The fact it relegates Radcliffe, Watson and Fry is an added bonus 😄

Let’s not forget this also earns JK a lot of money that she can pour into her women’s fund and other brilliant charitable projects (Beira’s Place, etc).

“Emma is rightly free to disagree with me and indeed to discuss her feelings about me in public - but I have the same right, and I've finally decided to exercise it.”

JK Rowling isn’t messing about and I love to see it.

Good for JKR.😃😎😎😎
That's buried the ludicrous untalented bleeps career once & for all.

JKR is fabulously wealthy. The 1st film has taken over £1 BILLION in takings, to date. Let alone the book sales around the World, the other films, toys, etc.

I'm glad she's said what she did.
Watson is a bleep. Radcliffe & Fry can go and duck themselves as well.

I love that she is redoing a series and redoing the audio. It's been long enough that a product refresh makes sense, etc, but also I think it's a lovely lesson to Emma, Dan, Fry that actually, you are not spokespersons for the literary world she created, she gave them a platform for a time, but that life moves on and other people get to take on that role. I also think these tweets are a warning/ pre-empting that when the new series comes out, Emma and Dan etc are not required to represent in any way. I don't forsee any interviews where they have Emma and the new Hermione talking about the legacy and handing over of the baton, etc. This is JK saying No, you had your time, you ruined it, you're in the past, and that you don't get to speak on behalf of the Harry Potter franchise instead of me, the author. I also hope Nick and Papaa of the current crew learn to keep their opinions to themselves whilst repping the series. We need to get back to actors separating their professional lives and their personal views. Anyway, how can they work for her still if they feel such a way? They were just hedging their bets, but hopefully they will keep schtum now.

Matthew Lewis has been asked about JKR in his latest interviews but weirdly hasn’t been asked about working with Richard Coles who famously pretended to have HIV because he felt left out.

Yeah, I notice a ton of actors working with Polanski and Woody Allen, and the media just rolls over like a puppy; but if a woman's outspoken, you best believe they'll ask everyone she's ever met if they've got any chastising to do.

Gyll can get stuffed. It’s hilarious this is the narrative the TRA’s are trying to spin after Emma Watson’s interview completely back fired after Jo’s post yesterday.

The desperate grasping at anything they might conceivably spin as a 'gotcha!' is pathetic.

She wasn't a millionaire at 14 and I very much doubt she owned that house at the age of 14. She may well have lived in that house at the age of 14, and she may well have (indeed, did) live in poverty at a subsequent stage of her adult life.

TRAs are so shamefully dense it's almost funny.

Its a good reply to Emma, and proves that actions and trendy speeches do actually have consequences.

JKR probably did feel fairly maternal towards all her child stars that voiced and characterised the characters that she had created.
i wonder if she was also especially close to Emma, because she played Hermione? The intelligent and underappreciated Swot! Of the 3 main characters, i wonder if JKR on some level would have identified most with the female witches and seen something of herself in them? So the betrayal by Emma was worse than others?

And I also wonder whether, when JKR was being ''awkward' whilst Harry Potter was being filmed, insisting on things like a British cast and filming in Britain, and ultimate editorial rights over her work, whether she also was extra supportive and helpful towards the child stars the films used? JKR personally cast Luna Lovegood didnt she after getting fan letters? ( PS I dont think JKR was awkward, they were her books and she had every right to impose conditions about how they were made, but I dont think this would have made her that popular in some quarters!!)

Its so interesting that Tom Felton who supported JKR, is still being supported by her and part of the Hogwarts world ?

I’m not sure that’s the reason per se but we also have to remember it’s likely the main cast of this tv series will also end up distancing themselves from JK when they’re older and are surrounded by their blue-haired friends who call her every name under the sun.

Nah I think the current cult of blue haired trans activism will be passe by that time and they'll all be into something new.
