https://giphy.com/Y076dG5Y46KVunENciI hope your hair looks nice but I wouldn't be going back there if I was disrespected like that. I cant stand waiting and will only give places and friends 5-10 minutes etc. F that, your time is important too.
You should have just shouted "How much fucking longer...?!"
Thanks for being a crappy person. I suffer with anxiety and depression. Being able to have conversations with people I don’t know is very difficult for me to the point where if I get worked up. I can have panic attacks. Doing tasks like going to the hair dressers is very hard for me. Just because I want to ask for a discount doesn’t mean I will, but they thought did cross my mind. You’re too anxious to complain but you’re happy to ask for a discount....
I understand exactly what you mean. I don't know appropriate behaviour with things like that so I wouldn't if asking for discount for being made to wait an hour with no apology was appropriate or not. Hairdressers are really hard for me cause I don't do small talk very well but they always try to talk to you (which I understand of course but I'm useless at it.Thanks for being a crappy person. Sounds like you have all the basics down. just play it by how you feel Its perfectly acceptable to ask how much longer please? or say I cant wait any longer etc because I might smash something you know.I understand exactly what you mean. *when I say appropriate behaviour, I mean like when to complain, complaining, what I should expect to be rectified and how, general rules of conversation. I obviously know appropriate behaviour with things like keeping my clothes on or not swearing. I know not to get my titties out in public
So do your legs… to walk out the door and go to another salonI NEVER feel comfortable kicking up a stink at the salon. My head of hair is about to be in their hands!!! They have all of the power
I say this as someone who also suffers from these, that your best bet if you find yourself in that situation is to remove yourself because sitting and getting more wound up internally will not be doing you any favoursThanks for being a crappy person. Update: managed to get my hair done. I didn’t ask for a discount but I’m now on my way over an hour late. I usually leave a tip but paid and hurried off quick. I have been to this hair dressers before but definitely won’t be going again.
If I don’t have the first appointment of the day booked I don’t schedule anything afterwards and bring reading material with me. Same thing for doctors appointments. So do your legs… to walk out the door and go to another salon
No need to be rude, I was making a comment based on what you’d saidThanks for being a crappy person. I suffer with anxiety and depression. I suffer from chronic anxiety. I’m afraid I find things like this challenging…You really should have got up and said something - you sat there for over an hour allowing them to completely ignore you, and then you say you’re so angry…. I don’t get it? They probably assumed you were happy to wait for them - they told you there was a bit of a wait to be seen, you didn’t ask how long, nor did you explicitly tell them you have somewhere else to be. Granted, they were taking the piss being an hour behind schedule but lord above, you have to stand up for yourself! I would have asked how long the wait was, and if I hadn’t then been seen in half an hour of the appointment I would have got up and said that I would be leaving if I wasn’t going to be seen in the next 5 minutes. I don’t understand what’s to be gained from sitttng there in passive silence for over an hour….?
This happened yesterday so I’m late to the party, but I used to go to a back street black hairdressers to have my hair straightened and they were always on ‘black people time’ and an hour or more wait was normal. I mean it’s not really ok but that’s how it wasJust curious to know your thoughts… if you had a hair dressers appointment booked for 4pm and you still weren’t seen by 4:30, would it be acceptable to complain if no one mentioned it or even apologised?
Thoughts?
I am just like you. I never speak up in situations like this, I'm just sat there getting more and more anxious. Wish I had the confidence to speak up but I never do because of my anxiety. I think I'd even struggle to walk out incase anyone noticed. I hate confrontation too so I'd just continue to sit, wait and only get myself more worked up. Its horrible dealing anxiety like that. Thanks for being a crappy person. I suffer with anxiety and depression. I know it's easier said than done but try and remember that no one will think you're weird or strange or get angry at you if you ask what's going on with your appointment. Sometimes hairdressers and anyone running to a schedule fall behind but they can end up getting so wrapped up in other things that they don't realise you've been sitting there waiting for ages, and will probably be mortified they forgot. Something like "could I just check if everything's ok for my appointment as I've been waiting for half an hour" - you don't need to storm over and demand an answer!I suffer from chronic anxiety. Christ. 50 mins total they’d have left youI once booked an appointment at a salon I'd never been to before after moving house.
When I arrived it was very busy. I eyeballed all the chairs and no one looked like they were anywhere near the end of getting their hair done. I was asked to take a seat. I did some work emails etc and then realised I'd been sitting there for half an hour.
The receptionist was out the back chatting so I just got up and left.
Twenty minutes later the salon called to remind me of the appointment. I just pressed 'end call' without saying anything and blocked the number.
I went to one of those 'walk in and wait your turn' salons up the road and they did a lovely cut and blow dry. The added bonus was it was £16 quid cheaper than the other place.
