Can I just say that I'm aghast that a 53 year old woman that speaks a multitude of languages and is a relatively skilled writer needs a bunch of random people on the internet to tell her what to do and have them fight her fights? The thought alone terrifies me.

I stayed in a hotel in Moura once like that. The door didn't lock. The window beside the door didn't close. The bathroom was full stainless steel, I think it had once been a kill room in an abattoir. The air con was full of mould, such that I went for a walk up the main street in full boiling sun for an hour rather than stay in the room while the air con spewed spores. And one of us had a room with a kettle and the other had a room with a tap that we could put the kettle under to fill, so between the 2 of us we could manage a cup of tea.
It was January 2000, horrific heat wave. Never forget it.
