Chronic insomniac here!

I have found that sleep hygiene doesn’t help, exercise doesn’t help either 🙄 a routine has slightly helped I think?

I take promethazine (brand name phenergan) which is an OTC antihistamine but can be used for anxiety and sleep. I use it as PRN, not every day.

I also take Temazepam 20mg as PRN. I am written up to take it every day but I have just tapered myself off of it. Zopiclone and Zolpidem don’t work for me. The doctors will usually only prescribe 2 weeks worth to take as PRN as there is a risk of dependency.

I’ve been suffering for the last week or so. No work so able to sleep in and it’s thrown me. I’m now out of a cycle and lucky if I fall sleep before 3 and usually awake again by 6!

I then dose for hours. I’ve just ordered some magnesium as my restless legs are driving DH mad!
Does magnesium help with restless legs?

I do too! I bought magnesium supplement from wilko and it has helped greatly. I also cut out diet drinks but I’m not sure whether that has done anything or not but I haven’t had it nearly has bad. I used to lie awake every night with it and now I get it maybe once a month and it’s nowhere near as strong as it was
Ive got it now, really pissing me off, have had a 'busy' day for me lately, I don't drink fizzy drinks, actually like water! have cut down to 4 mugs of tea a day , do smoke which I know can make it worse ( oh gave up in April, hasn't stop his rl)

Melatonin and magnesium citrate

I've spent the day researching magnesium, would love to know how all you guys are getting on with it .
I’ve taken it for years and recently put my mother on to it. It works for me. There’s numerous magnesium and I take citrate.

Yes. Severely. I've been on prescription meds for it the last four years 😐
Can I ask what meds you are on for it?

What do you take and where can I get it? Sorry for sounding desperate, am fed up with insommnia and now restless legs .

Can you buy Zopiclone 7.5mg online? I have 1 tablet left & my GP won’t prescribe me anymore, even though my last prescription was last year.

Putting my sleep tips here in case anything I do can help others.
Try and take exercise earlier in the day, the endorphins from exercise will keep you awake if you do it too late
Don't eat foods that are harder to digest and try not to eat too late in the day. I generally have to avoid chocolate, bananas and heavy carbs 3-4 hours before sleep
Phone down 30 mins before sleep
I drink a cup of Pukka night time tea just before bed
A notebook beside the bed for brain dumping those annoying thoughts that come to you as soon as you get into bed
I have the Calm app and listen to sleep stories which are between 20-50 mind long and I often don't hear the end of the story
Does calm drain your battery? If you fall asleep with it on

I'm going to try these because I don't want to be taking prescription medication on a permenant basis. It states they are high absorbtion and good for muscle cramps and restless leg relief. The reviews seem very positive too. Fingers crossed. These are on amazon

Unsure - To show me that I’m not getting anymore I guess! I probably shouldn’t have been taking them off him anyway
