You're not going to believe this but I've just had a "conversation" with him. I don't believe it. The sanctimonious bastard telling me I don't have a right to judge him. He's talking to me like I'm shit because I retracted my message of support last year. Honestly. My mind is boggled.
---
I'm in absolute shock. But it says a lot about him. Those stories people said about how he behaved towards them: I believe every single one of them.

Huw has now joined Substack and is going to post about 'overcoming trauma' according to the Fail.

I think he might just be literally insane. He will never realise he is not the victim in this.
I wonder whether he will acknowledge the trauma caused to the children shown in the child abuse images he was receiving/requesting from WhatsApp.

I detest that piece of shit, I really fucking do. He's shown absolutely no remorse, which I'm sure means that he is still offending. He doesn't see anything wrong with what he did and is (as @Tangerine Dream says) purely focused on himself as the victim.

He isn't happy with the drama that airs tonight. Out comes the mental health card used so often when people have done something bad, like it excuses it at least to some extent.
He's an absolute disgrace.

It distresses me so much when these people abuse the mental health card like this.

So now Huw is the one who was mentally vulnerable. I honestly wonder how lawyers sleep at night using this as defence! Poor Huw eh imagine being messaged on instagram asking if you want child porn and you just can’t say no.

He’s sorry he got caught. That’s it.

As people have mentioned people have gone to prison for rioting, throwing stones. This man gets to go free and we know the huge spectrum between both crimes.

The prison rioters were meant to send out an example of justice, this sends an example of how imbalanced the justice system is in this country. 300 rioters sent to prison, but a sex offender gets to walk free. Tell me that this is a skewed sense of justice.

Thailand, Cambodia and the Philippines are overrun with aging European perverts. Cambodia is where Gary Glitter went after leaving prison. It’s fucking disgusting.

I've noticed that people with Narcissistic Personality Disorder are deluded about how people see them. Like Prince Andrew thinking he's really the victim, and everyone would like him after that interview. They will say outrageously bad things and believe that everyone will side with them.

I think that's about the grooming a vulnerable teen with drug issues. It's still very grim with that and the abusive messages he sent him and that alone should have been the last we saw of Huw.
It is illegal for anyone over the age of 18 to exchange sexually explicit images with anyone under the age of 18. Ironically it's the law which stopped The Scum putting topless girls on page 3 the day after they turned 16.
The kerfuffle last year was nothing to do with the charges brought this year or the Sun. They're totally unrelated and were only discovered because the sender of the images got arrested.

I thought the young man from last year had been on drugs etc before HE got involved with him? Or am I wrong? It's a tragic story regardless.
He was just 17 and at the beginning of his drug habit. Drug habits are very expensive and he had an incredibly supportive family who were trying to get hin into treatment. Had he not had unfettered access to funds for it, they may have succeeded.

Once Edwards began exploiting this lad for porno images and sex shows, he suddenly had two, three and once five thousand pounds deposited into his bank. This was in fact how his parents discovered the Edwards link because the lad was so far gone on the drugs he could now afford to buy at will that his parents began looking into his account to find out where it was coming from.

If the lad had had a brain tumour which caused him to make dangerous decisions and lose his inhibitions and someone exploited that condition I think no one would be asking "but he already had the tumour didn't he? Not like Huw gave him the condition just exploited it"

Same for addiction. Especially addiction in a CHILD.

Let's just reiterate here. A 62 year old millionaire who was famous all over the country and a 17 year old drug addicted kid from a council estate.
The power dynamic kind of speaks for itself.

What kind of severe mental illness and breakdown causes you to get involved in CSA and apparently be completely unaware/forget about it/whatever the story is, but still be able to broadcast live on massive historical occasions without anyone thinking “Hmm Huw seems a bit out of sorts”?
It’s weird how many mentally ill men turn to child rape for comfort and how few women do

ETA @Bread please be careful. I can imagine he could be quite vindictive

I doubt that "90% of people you come across" have severe enough mental health problems to warrant hospitalisation.
He was hospitalised because the world found out he was a fucking pedalo and his life was ruined overnight. I'm sure 100% of people would end up sectioned after the breakdown that follows that.

Are you saying he should be given leniency because of a history of depression? Otherwise I don't know why you are defending him on this.

If you’re not going to incarcerate men for investing in the child rape industry, you should at the very least prevent them from going to other countries to be someone else’s problem.

Ah, I see. I've not received those messages from Labour HQ. I worked in this sector.

Unfortunately, if you think that Savile was "the most famous and lauded media personality" with a case before the CPS at that time then you're sadly mistaken.
I was in Leeds the day of his funeral. It dwarfed the Kray twins for crowds. Every celebrity in the country penned a tribute to him. Ditto politicians and public figures.
He was a vile old predator who had a Knighthood from both the Queen and the Pope. He had been lauded and awarded by half the major charities in the UK. He was all up in Childline. They had him front the entire Stranger Danger campaigns of the 80s ffs.

He spent 13 consecutive Christmas days at Chequers with Thatcher and Den. The NHS had all but canonised him. They gave him keys to Stoke & Broadmoor ffs - and a cottage in the grounds of Broadmoor.

And look what he got up to within that august insttution. The BBC was still running interference for him well after his death. They canned that news story because they said it would spoil the big tribute to Jim and how he fiddled fixed all the kids.

No one has ever had the access to the inner circles of power that Savile had. If you think that's normal celebrity treatment, name one who gets it.

Mental illness is no excuse, every single poncy fuck who looks at images of child abuse is mentally ill or they'd never do it. The fact is he knew it was wrong, did it anyway, went to great lengths to hide it and has no regard for his victims, that's all that matters.

I'm still horrified that Phil Schofield was alleged to be doing the same and it all got brushed under the carpet. These men really are bottom of the pond feeding scum, and grooming is one of the most horrific things you can do to another human being.

I hope "Ryan" is getting support and healing from all of this. It was a hard watch.

Whilst I am not a fan of these type of dramas, I have no sympathy in this case.
Actors such as Harry H Corbett or Hattie Jaques have had dramas made about them, which may have not been accurate - and made after they died. However, they are not criminals / convicted sex offenders.

In the case of Huw Edwards, I don’t really care if it’s not 100% accurate. He laid himself wide open to speculation with his behaviour - and now that we know that he is a sex offender, nobody cares about any of his disputes with C5.

He really thinks that he can still gather some public sympathy. He needs to read the room.

Statistically it's highly likely that Huw Edwards' offending will escalate now.
He has been caught, lost his job, lost his family and ruined his image. He has also received a very light sentence.
I have no doubt at all that he will continue to offend, and will always be a danger to children. The question is, where will it escalate to?
