How often do you deep clean your house ...

I clean a room a day, and clean the whole thing - windows and frames, light fixtures and switches, all surfaces, skirting boards, doors and frames, the walls if they need marks off them. And I move the sofas in those rooms and Hoover under/behind them on that same day.

So everywhere in the house gets a full clean once a week at least. Bathrooms get wiped down more often, and our bedroom sometimes too as it gets insanely dusty for some reason.

I rarely clean my car out! My husband does sometimes, but the most I do is clear my sweet wrappers out of the door once every 6 months 🙈

Your place must be so clean. Dunno how people have time for that tho, or are you just super organised 🤣

Wash walls lol! I’d only do that if I moved into a new house and wanted to paint the walls then I probably would wash them first :) pull out Furniture to vacumn behind... once a year or if I move the room around! I tend to vacumn as much of the floor as I can get too easily an not worry about behind the cabinets and stuff really it’s only a bit of dust 🤷🏻‍♀️ Think that’s okay once a year really. Think people can be too clean and use too many chemicals and sprays and I for one get so allergic to stuff it’s horrible wish people wouldn’t use so many scents just plain dettol is fine! & Plain bleach for toilets/sinks. Things that are just dusty then a damp cloth 🤷🏻‍♀️ I use plain dettol for kitchen bathroom surfaces etc. Inside cupboards I defo do more , around once a month I’ll wipe the outside cupboard doors down and give inside a wipe an neaten all the stuff inside up and throw anything away I don’t need any more :) I have two cats so most of my cleaning is getting cat hair of wherever they have left a trail they mault a lot 😹

I forgot to add, 'clean skirting boards / trims' and 'clean windows - inside and outside' to my original list.

I was curious to see what others do after my catch-up with a friend last weekend got me thinking ... she said that every single day she "has to" follow this list of certain things that need to be done (she lives alone and this is her list that she tells herself that she must follow). Her house is incredible (just an ordinary house but it always smells and FEELS great), so all her hard work is obviously paying off. But she did say that she's finding it hard to visit other peoples' houses due to their lack of hygiene (which made me gulp - although I keep my house clean I probably only deep clean everything every couple of months or so).

I have another friend who pays for a cleaner to do all these things who also follows some sort of regular list but meaning that everything gets deep-cleaned at least weekly. Again, her house is immaculate and just feels so good to be in.

After reading others' responses, I think I fit into the 'normal' category. I'd love to live in an immaculately clean house but with flying pine needles and what-not everywhere (we live in the country), four cats and two hairy, dribbly, dogs, the best I can hope for is "good enough."
Sorry your friend seems ocd :( there’s just no need to do that daily what’s the point :( waste of time really to live in such a sterile environment she could be doing loads of other things with her time ... no offence just this whole ‘mrs hinch’ fad has made people think there homes can’t look lived in and use so many different sprays and chemicals they don’t really need! Like air fresheners! I just open my window every day for a couple hours xxxx

Ha! There are 4 kids here, my husband and a dog (and me but I’m not messy 🤣) so we are always bogging no matter how much I clean! It only takes me about half an hour each day, which I do when the toddler is napping. In such a routine with it now it seems to take no time at all! ETA: a bit longer at weekends when my husband is about and the kids are well occupied. Bathrooms take me a while because I hate doing them!
