Christmas / Easter mainly. Deep clean my bedroom like once a month? (Pull bed out, dust curtain pole/light shade/top of wardrobe) etc.

I clean in some shape or form everyday though.

I do a big clean (all surfaces/windows etc) every other week though more some during lockdown and a top up clean (just not windows or skirtings) every week.

I generally do a deep clean before Christmas. We’ve lived her 3 years and I have never moved or done under the sofa/bookcase/tv unit 😂

Husband thinks I have a cleaning problem though 🤷🏻‍♀️ I do live in a clean house and I have a thing about things being just so and done.

Genuine question - how do you wash walls? I feel like if I did that all the paint would come off? Or am I being mega thick 🤣😬
I have a mixture of painted and timber walls; I mix a few drops of dishwashing liquid in a large bucket of hot water and dunk a microfibre cloth into the mixture and give the walls a gentle wipe. I go back over what I've just wiped with a clean tea towel to dry. It gets rid of all the fly poop and goodness knows what else is on the walls and not visible to the naked eye. I also do my ceilings in a similar way (but using an extendable mop); if the marks don't shift, then I use a bit of Selleys Sugar Soap.

Okay not going to lie this thread has made my feel very guilty and I have done a big clean this morning (I have not moved any furniture though). Cleaning walls... I will wipe a mark off etc and dust but nothing more. Why is their flying poo anywhere else but possibly the bathroom?!?

So what is she cleaning daily? Surely not her skirting boards.

Life is too short! I'm sure her house is lovely, but to me I think she sounds a little compulsive obsessive. Does she work?
I'm sure she does do skirting boards daily. Her home is lovely yes, but you're not allowed to sit on certain chairs or use certain cushions as they're for display purposes only. And yes, I do agree she is obsessive. She works part-time.

Growing up, we had whole ROOMS we weren't allowed to go into, nevermind items of furniture we weren't allowed to sit on!

My sister and I were only allowed in the snug - my mum had a formal sitting room with cream sofas that I don't think even guests were allowed to sit on. Similarly, we were only allowed to eat in the dining room on special occasions like Christmas - for the rest of the year, my sister and I had to eat in the kitchen as the dining room was strictly for entertaining guests.

My mum had set upon set of china, cutlery, glasses that she was too precious to actually ever use.

Safe to say, my sister and I have turned out quite the opposite! I don't have a set of "good" china/a "good" armchair that no one is allowed to sit on /etc. Our homes are lived in, my dog is welcomed on the sofa for cuddles, and I avoid buying things that are so expensive that I'll be afraid to actually use them! I really think a home is to be lived in - you can't actually enjoy any of your belongings if you're always so on edge about them being damaged.

I do my regular weekly cleaning, such as kitchen counters, sink and floor, bathroom and I hoover twice weekly. The cupboards get emptied out once a year to be cleaned inside but if I spill something or notice a spill I clean there and then, I clean out the fridge whenever I notice it needs doing. Skirting boards get hoovered weekly but I clean them about 3 times a year. Couch gets pulled out whenever partner is home when I'm hoovering the living room but I've never pulled out the sideboard or bookshelf to do behind them, strangely! I do wipe the walls down if I notice they are dusty but never cleaned them but I have no children so no mucky handprints on them. The doors get a wipe down about once a year. Windows are cleaned only in the warmer months about once a month, inside and out. My partner has his regular cleaning jobs, he cleans kitchen and bathroom floor, toilet, bathroom sink and hoovers the hall and spare room but he never does any deep cleaning apart from the windows.

We do a big "deep" clean once a year around spring time (this includes paint touch-ups, changing furnace filters, etc)

But every day I run the handheld Dyson over the floor and sweep, wipe the counters, wipe the stove.

And a few times a week clean the toilet, wipe the mirrors, etc when needed.

I do a big clean every weekend which involves: washing bedsheets/towels, vacuuming with the proper vacuum (floors, baseboards), dust furniture/stair banisters/blinds, mop hardwood, and tile, clean the toilet/shower/sinks and bathroom counters.

We have a dog and sometimes he sneezes on the walls so when I notice it, I will clean them... the best thing to clean them with is baby wipes. They remove everything without leaving a mark behind.

I cleaned it during the first lockdown and again this weekend. I usually get it done at the car wash 😂

I dont - the lovely little hand carwash folks do! It's been an absolute cesspit during lockdown. I usually take it every payday for a full inside & out valet.

We pay someone to do a proper deep clean twice a year. That’s fully cleaning carpets, deep cleaning every appliance, pulling everything apart etc. It works far better for us than having a regular cleaner.

We tend to do a normal weekly clean once a week (obviously) - so bathroom scrubbed, scrub the kitchen a bit harder, mop hard floors, clean mirrors, that kind of thing. I dust twice a week - once a lighter maintenance dust and one a more hardcore one (including ceilings & skirting boards) when we’re doing the weekly clean.

I hoover almost everyday, at least the two most used floors in our house (it’s four floors total), but do a more thorough hoover when I do those dust sessions. I clean the loos and wipe the sinks daily too, and wipe the shower/bath down after use. Kitchen also gets cleaned daily, often twice as my partner has to clean it up after spiling coffee every morning 😂

We also have the window cleaner come monthly, and the oven gets professionally cleaned every 3 months or so. Partner gets his car cleaned out every couple of months usually but not driving much due to Covid, so hasn’t really bothered lately.

For us, this is the right balance and our home is generally tidy and clean, which is essential for my mental health I find. I don’t judge people who do less or do more - I just concentrate on what I’m happy doing.

Kitchen floor and bathroom is swept and mopped at least once a day. Hoovering every day, and the kitchen and bathroom are kept clean every day. Skirting boards and under furniture etc is once a month, same with the door frames and doors. I have like panelled doors and the dust builds up so quickly on the edges. Carpets cleaned twice a year and cupboards in the kitchen once a year. The fridge probably monthly depending on the state it’s in. I grew up with two opposites as parents, they weren’t together. My mum was clean and neat and the smell of bleach will always remind me of her and my dad never did any cleaning really. Both though had a lot of clutter so I’ve kept on top of clutter and found it easier to be clean but not worry about everything needing to be deep cleaned if that makes sense? So it’s easier just to do every once in a while and things stay pretty clean anyway.
I don’t have any pets but have a child.
