I just hate any form of OTTness in a relationship. Completely each to their own but if my husband sent me a lovey text I’d just cringe for him. Or if he tried to call me baby or princess or anything like that 🤢

We’ve been together 9 years, married for 4, have a kid and a dog, and are very happy. But we understand neither of us is a romantic and we’re not a co-dependant couple. Both very self sufficient and independent.
we are the same, happy but not clingy at all. I always say to my husband its quite normal to not be in touch when we are busy and hes working. We also dont call each other sloppy names its all cringey to us. We laugh at ourselves and say we must be miserable bastards really. We also like having plenty of time to do our own thing. I hang around with him most evenings, thats more than enough !

Been together over 3 years, live together and we text every day (when we both work) in the mornings to say something along the lines of ‘love you, hope you have a nice day’ etc and that’s it unless there is anything important we need to say/ask each other.. we wouldn’t really message anything random after the initial texts

Hey!
So I have been with my partner coming up 4 years and we have just purchased our first home!
I just wondered, how often does every text their partners? We both work full time, and if im honest, i cant be bothered to text! I feel if we text alot during the day, we have nothing to talk about at night when we get home, over dinner etc.

I have friends who dont text at all during the day, and I also have friends who text constantly.

What does everyone else do?

I don’t live with my partner and we text quite a lot as only tend to see each other on weekends and I’m not working right now (starting a job soon) after just finishing uni and he’s working from home.

When we both worked full time in offices we’d text once in the morning, a message or two on our lunch breaks to complain about work and then quite a few messages or a FaceTime call in the evening.

When we move in together next year I can imagine our only texts will be to remind each other to do stuff or pick up food etc 😂

Together 8 years. We often will text each other during the day, sometimes with instructions and sometimes it’s a lovey-dovey message 🤣 I work nights and we will usually have a bit of a text chat before he goes to bed. When he’s on his way home he will sometimes phone me too.
There’s never any expectation to reply to one another though!

We’ll usually text at lunchtime-ish a ‘how’s your day?’ kind of text. Thats the only ‘expected’ one, might just be a few lines. But then I’m furloughed so have more time atm.
Maybe if something remarkable happens, ‘do you need/can you pick up?’ or a ‘what do you want for dinner’ we’ll text again but I wouldn’t worry if he didn’t reply. He’ll usually text to say he’s on his way home or staying late if it’s bad weather (we’re rural) or he’s early/later than usual.
There’s a family chat for his and my family too that will go off throughout the day occasionally. I guess we all like to keep in touch 🤣

We text/email sporadically throughout the day (husband isn't allowed his phone at work but can email). We have a daughter and he isnt able to be around for stuff as much as he would like due to his shifts so he misses out on a lot so we mainly talk about her and how she has been/nursery drop off etc.
If one of us is having a bit of a crappy day at work then we mention it and talk about it a little bit but mainly save it for when we are home but think it is nice just to know that he knows how I'm feeling etc.

Weve been together 10 years, married with two kids, my husband texts me every morning to let me know he's safely at work and then when leaving work, it's a long commute on a horrible road so I like to know he's safe and when to actually do the house work 😂
The last actual conversation type message was October when he was shopping asking why there was chocolate written every other line of the shopping list!

Just looked... the last text I sent him was 4 weeks ago asking him to turn the oven on. Romance isn’t dead ladies 😂
You never see that in romantic dramas do you! Imagine Humphrey Bogart saying to Lauren Bacall in Casablanca, "Here's lookin' at you kid! Oh, and did you switch the oven on?" :ROFLMAO:

We live together and he's working from home so if I'm not at work then not often 🤣
If I'm at work maybe on my breaks unless it's the weekend and he's sending pics of our daughter 🤣

3 or 4 times a week, nothing interesting and that's the way I like it. No Messenger or WhatsApp either. When I see my sister, she constantly gets texts/calls from her husband. That would do my head in.

We've been together over 12 years and text randomly throughout the day, some days not at all, just depends

Often it's sharing funny photos or asking each other to pick stuff up when we're out, 9 times out of 10 its food related 😂

I'm working from home so I send him photos of the dog quite a lot 😂

We only every phone each other if it's something important of if we are both at a shopping centre we go our separate ways and phone to meet up for food or to go home

Not that often. If I'm having a shit day at work or see something funny I might text him. I'll sometimes text to ask how his day is going or he will text me to ask how I am but it's not a regular thing. Also romantic things such as we need bread, have you seen my item etc. Though occasionally I do get a "love you" which makes me smile

A guy he used to work with would have three calls a day. What the hell do they talk about at home?
Someone I work with his gf calls him at her mid morning break lunch break and then on the way home 😂😂. Me and my fella do text a bit but not a lot. Similar things like get wine or get bread 😂 or the occasional have a good day love you . I don’t have time to text during the day to be honest .. me and my friend send each other voice notes all day which is easier. Or he will ring me to ask how our son is if he is working late .. we also live together. I usually text him asking how his day is and then he will ring me abit later on as he isn’t a big texter

We text occasionally during the day, not every day though. It’s almost always shopping lists or reminders 🤣

My husband and I text each other if we think of something to tell each other. Or use messenger. We'd probably forget if we waited until the evening.

Sometimes we text from different rooms in the house instead of yelling, especially if the baby is asleep .

Rarely, occasionally we send each other a shopping list or the odd joke. Sometimes I'll send him a link to something we might want to do if we are going away.
